00:00:00 --> 00:00:03 And welcome to a new episode of a digital coffee
00:00:03 --> 00:00:07 gaming brew. And I'm your host Brett Deister. If
00:00:07 --> 00:00:09 you please subscribe to this podcast and only
00:00:09 --> 00:00:11 favorite podcasting, absolutely five star view
00:00:11 --> 00:00:13 where it does help with the rankings. Let me
00:00:13 --> 00:00:17 know how I am doing, but this week we got a whole
00:00:17 --> 00:00:19 slew of things to talk about. We got to talk
00:00:19 --> 00:00:21 about six days of flu shit because apparently
00:00:21 --> 00:00:24 it's, it's got single player missions and it's
00:00:24 --> 00:00:27 controversial because it talks about the battle
00:00:27 --> 00:00:30 and flu show when we were actually in Iraq in
00:00:30 --> 00:00:35 a war. We also got new no man's skies. No, no
00:00:35 --> 00:00:40 man's sky. Excuse me. Mass Effect Normandy is
00:00:40 --> 00:00:42 back again. So if you want to actually get it,
00:00:42 --> 00:00:44 since you missed it last time, you have a chance.
00:00:44 --> 00:00:47 They also have a new feature for cross save as
00:00:47 --> 00:00:50 well. So if you're playing on PlayStation five,
00:00:50 --> 00:00:54 Xbox or PC, you can cross save all that and that'd
00:00:54 --> 00:00:58 be fine. Nvidia. Well, it's going to be limiting
00:00:58 --> 00:01:03 you to a hundred hours per month on their GeoForce
00:01:03 --> 00:01:06 cloud gaming service. So have fun with that.
00:01:06 --> 00:01:09 I don't know if you can actually game more than
00:01:09 --> 00:01:12 a hundred hours a month, but I guess you can
00:01:12 --> 00:01:14 if you play every single day for quite a long
00:01:14 --> 00:01:17 time, but be prepared for that. There is a rumor
00:01:17 --> 00:01:21 that the Warcraft 2 Remastered is coming, which
00:01:21 --> 00:01:23 is great because I love Warcraft 2. That was
00:01:23 --> 00:01:28 one of the best RTS games back when Westwood
00:01:28 --> 00:01:30 and Blizzard were fighting each other out for
00:01:30 --> 00:01:33 who was the most popular real -time strategy
00:01:33 --> 00:01:36 game with Red Alert or Command Conqueror and
00:01:36 --> 00:01:38 also Red Alert as well and Warcraft and Warcraft
00:01:38 --> 00:01:41 2. Warcraft 1 was not that great because you
00:01:41 --> 00:01:44 can only actually, spoiler, you can only click
00:01:44 --> 00:01:47 one unit per time and Warcraft 2 you could do
00:01:47 --> 00:01:49 a whole bunch of units. That was a game changer
00:01:49 --> 00:01:52 right there. Also, we're going to talk about
00:01:52 --> 00:01:55 Warner Brothers games and whether what games
00:01:55 --> 00:01:57 are actually doubling down on and why they're
00:01:57 --> 00:02:00 missing one that I do not understand why they
00:02:00 --> 00:02:02 keep on just ignoring, especially with a patent
00:02:02 --> 00:02:07 they have on it as well. And why take two actually
00:02:07 --> 00:02:11 sold off private division and the reports on
00:02:11 --> 00:02:14 that as well. And the new banner Lords update
00:02:14 --> 00:02:19 and the release of steam in game recording. And
00:02:19 --> 00:02:21 if it's going to be great or terrible, or if
00:02:21 --> 00:02:23 you actually should care about it, And then my
00:02:23 --> 00:02:26 main thing is going to be talking about why it's
00:02:26 --> 00:02:30 great to be a cheapskate. Let's get on with it.
00:02:43 --> 00:02:47 That's good. All right. So Six Days of Felucia
00:02:47 --> 00:02:49 actually has the first single player missions.
00:02:50 --> 00:02:54 up and ready to go, which enables AI teammates.
00:02:54 --> 00:02:59 It kind of helps bring into focus just what went
00:02:59 --> 00:03:02 on in Fallujah with the battle, because the battle
00:03:02 --> 00:03:05 was pretty intense at that time. And it's been
00:03:05 --> 00:03:08 controversial because people want to make it
00:03:08 --> 00:03:09 controversial. It's not that really controversial
00:03:09 --> 00:03:12 that you want to make a game about an historical
00:03:12 --> 00:03:14 battle that actually happened. But apparently
00:03:14 --> 00:03:19 now it is because it's more recent and people
00:03:19 --> 00:03:21 want to make it controversial. I guess it is,
00:03:22 --> 00:03:25 but it happened 2004. It was to recapture the
00:03:25 --> 00:03:28 city from Al -Qaeda and the Ba 'ath party occupiers
00:03:28 --> 00:03:32 in November, December of 2004. And you've gotten
00:03:32 --> 00:03:35 these co -op missions that you can do. Cause
00:03:35 --> 00:03:36 six days of evolution is still in early access,
00:03:37 --> 00:03:41 but you had these like, Co -op missions that
00:03:41 --> 00:03:42 you should play with other people I try to play
00:03:42 --> 00:03:45 by myself and I kept on dying in like the first
00:03:45 --> 00:03:47 two minutes, which is fair It's a very realistic
00:03:47 --> 00:03:49 type of a game. So it's fair, but I just don't
00:03:49 --> 00:03:52 understand why it's controversial only because
00:03:52 --> 00:03:58 it's talking about the Iraqi war but It's a battle
00:03:58 --> 00:04:00 it actually happened. Yes, they may have actually
00:04:00 --> 00:04:03 killed some citizens because you couldn't tell
00:04:03 --> 00:04:06 the difference between Al Qaeda and regular citizens
00:04:06 --> 00:04:07 because they would dress from regular citizens,
00:04:07 --> 00:04:14 but This is just one of those things where. It
00:04:14 --> 00:04:16 actually happened. It should be something that
00:04:16 --> 00:04:20 you can actually play, but the first two single
00:04:20 --> 00:04:22 player campaign missions for six days solution
00:04:22 --> 00:04:25 that will be released. Actually it's already
00:04:25 --> 00:04:27 been released. You also can, you can play solo
00:04:27 --> 00:04:30 with AI controlled fire team. Also, you can try
00:04:30 --> 00:04:32 to start a co -op match with three other players,
00:04:34 --> 00:04:36 but are struggling to populate. So. The lobby
00:04:36 --> 00:04:39 so you can now fill the gap with NPC soldiers.
00:04:39 --> 00:04:41 So if you're having issues with finding people,
00:04:41 --> 00:04:45 you can just play it by yourself. And the game's
00:04:45 --> 00:04:48 visuals have been improved with additional detail
00:04:48 --> 00:04:52 to character models, environments, effects, textures
00:04:52 --> 00:04:55 with new option to enable ray tracing, lighting
00:04:55 --> 00:04:59 and shadow effects. So there you go. That's what
00:04:59 --> 00:05:01 you have it. I'm actually excited for it may
00:05:01 --> 00:05:04 actually reboot it up and see what it's all about.
00:05:04 --> 00:05:10 But there you go. No man's sky. Way back when
00:05:10 --> 00:05:16 in 2021, they actually had for the N7 holiday
00:05:16 --> 00:05:19 for mass effect. They, you could actually get
00:05:19 --> 00:05:27 the normity for playing the community type thing.
00:05:27 --> 00:05:29 Now they brought it back. So you can actually
00:05:29 --> 00:05:32 do that plus with cross play. So if you're actually
00:05:32 --> 00:05:34 playing on the other consoles and PC, you can
00:05:34 --> 00:05:36 cross play between all those two, which is a
00:05:36 --> 00:05:39 good thing. And I like that. So if you missed
00:05:39 --> 00:05:41 it, like I did, you can come back and actually
00:05:41 --> 00:05:44 get the Norma D, which is actually pretty cool.
00:05:44 --> 00:05:47 I actually do that. You can actually come back
00:05:47 --> 00:05:49 and actually get it. And this is a good partnership
00:05:49 --> 00:05:52 with N7 day with the mass effect celebrations
00:05:52 --> 00:05:54 for the next two weeks. So you've got two weeks
00:05:54 --> 00:05:56 to figure out how to actually get it. And if
00:05:56 --> 00:05:59 you don't, there you go. But It's great that
00:05:59 --> 00:06:03 I also support cross saves. It's a limited beta
00:06:03 --> 00:06:06 form to begin with, but at least you can be able
00:06:06 --> 00:06:10 to transfer all your console saves to PC where
00:06:10 --> 00:06:14 they belong. And the blurb is, in addition to
00:06:14 --> 00:06:15 the ability to transfer saves between platforms
00:06:15 --> 00:06:19 via the server, it's especially difficult for
00:06:19 --> 00:06:22 No Man's Sky as the work involved increases with
00:06:22 --> 00:06:24 each platform support and how long. Folks have
00:06:24 --> 00:06:27 already been playing for it. Both of those numbers
00:06:27 --> 00:06:30 are large for our tiniest team. It's very common
00:06:30 --> 00:06:33 for players to rack up thousands of hours and
00:06:33 --> 00:06:36 saves exploring across space, building elaborate
00:06:36 --> 00:06:40 bases and cataloging their discoveries with incredibly
00:06:40 --> 00:06:43 detailed saves. Adding cross saves for us is
00:06:43 --> 00:06:46 a little bit like moving houses. The longer people
00:06:46 --> 00:06:49 have lived there, the more complicated it is
00:06:49 --> 00:06:51 to move them. We also have players who have played
00:06:51 --> 00:06:54 once at launch eight years ago. suddenly loading
00:06:54 --> 00:06:57 up the save on a platform that didn't even exist
00:06:57 --> 00:06:59 back then. For those reasons, we have secretly
00:06:59 --> 00:07:02 been introducing technology for this update for
00:07:02 --> 00:07:06 over six months. We now are ready to start rolling
00:07:06 --> 00:07:08 cross -stakes out first to a small number of
00:07:08 --> 00:07:12 players from today. All No Man's Sky players
00:07:12 --> 00:07:14 can connect their different platform accounts
00:07:14 --> 00:07:18 together through the cloud. No man's sky .com
00:07:18 --> 00:07:21 backslash cloud save a subset of players will
00:07:21 --> 00:07:24 then be admitted to the beta participants in
00:07:24 --> 00:07:27 the beta will be able to upload and download
00:07:27 --> 00:07:32 saves for any current connected platform in game
00:07:32 --> 00:07:34 save screen in the coming weeks. All players
00:07:34 --> 00:07:37 will be invited to do so. You can get, try to
00:07:37 --> 00:07:39 get into it. If you can't just wait for it, it'll
00:07:39 --> 00:07:42 eventually roll out, but it's going to be so
00:07:42 --> 00:07:44 far, but I'm just really excited for the normally
00:07:44 --> 00:07:46 to come back to my sky. So if you actually missed
00:07:46 --> 00:07:48 it, like I did You can have another shot at actually
00:07:48 --> 00:07:56 doing it. All right. So Nvidia Geoforce, their
00:07:56 --> 00:08:04 cloud gaming platform is limiting you. Instead
00:08:04 --> 00:08:07 of it just being a limited, they are limiting
00:08:07 --> 00:08:13 you to a hundred dollar hour cap with The 299
00:08:13 --> 00:08:18 tier being 15 hour cap per month. So an additional
00:08:18 --> 00:08:20 to that, it's going to be interesting to see
00:08:20 --> 00:08:23 how players manage this. If anybody's actually
00:08:23 --> 00:08:27 doing it. I was on the cloud gaming wave or tested
00:08:27 --> 00:08:29 it out for a little bit. It just, it just didn't
00:08:29 --> 00:08:32 really care about it. It's not that big of a
00:08:32 --> 00:08:35 deal to me and it's, you have to have a good
00:08:35 --> 00:08:37 internet connection. And so all those factors
00:08:37 --> 00:08:40 just make it not that great anyways. So It's
00:08:40 --> 00:08:43 cool that you can pay as monthly service to get
00:08:43 --> 00:08:45 games and play these games anywhere you want,
00:08:45 --> 00:08:48 even with not very great hardware. That's cool,
00:08:50 --> 00:08:55 but it just never moved me to actually want to
00:08:55 --> 00:08:58 do it. I tried both of them. I got like six months
00:08:58 --> 00:09:01 for free for Nvidia GeForce and it didn't really
00:09:01 --> 00:09:06 matter to me. So have at it if you want to, but
00:09:06 --> 00:09:10 I just don't really think it matters very much.
00:09:10 --> 00:09:12 And they just don't think the technology is there
00:09:12 --> 00:09:16 quite yet to actually really matter either. So
00:09:16 --> 00:09:20 either way, I just think. And just wait it out,
00:09:21 --> 00:09:24 just wait out for a little while that let each
00:09:24 --> 00:09:27 other go after it and then see which one actually
00:09:27 --> 00:09:31 stands out. I don't think Nvidia's is as popular
00:09:31 --> 00:09:36 as Xbox, but Xbox is a lot more expensive. as
00:09:36 --> 00:09:39 well so like I said you can figure out if you
00:09:39 --> 00:09:44 want to but all these monthly services are just
00:09:44 --> 00:09:46 getting annoying and a lot and I'm just kind
00:09:46 --> 00:09:51 of over it all right so it looks like there's
00:09:51 --> 00:09:56 a leak of Warcraft 2 remastered and it could
00:09:56 --> 00:09:59 be happening in November with the Warcraft 30th
00:09:59 --> 00:10:05 anniversary as well so I'm wondering what it's
00:10:05 --> 00:10:07 going to be like. Is it going to be more like
00:10:07 --> 00:10:09 the Diablo two remastered is going to be more
00:10:09 --> 00:10:12 like the Warcraft three reforged remaster or
00:10:12 --> 00:10:15 remake or whatever they said it was going to
00:10:15 --> 00:10:18 be. I never really knew what it was. If it's
00:10:18 --> 00:10:20 a lot of the Diablo two, I'm all for it because
00:10:20 --> 00:10:24 that was a good remastered. If it's the Warcraft
00:10:24 --> 00:10:29 three reforged. Yeah. Not so good. I mean, they
00:10:29 --> 00:10:31 were, everybody was confused about what it is.
00:10:31 --> 00:10:35 Now, would I like to see Warcraft 4? Of course.
00:10:35 --> 00:10:39 Will it happen? No, probably won't. The reason
00:10:39 --> 00:10:43 why is RTS to a lot of publishers don't sell
00:10:43 --> 00:10:47 well, even though if you did it right, it could
00:10:47 --> 00:10:49 actually be a really good revenue source. It's
00:10:49 --> 00:10:51 just you have to figure out the right way of
00:10:51 --> 00:10:54 doing it. And no one's really figured it out
00:10:54 --> 00:10:57 quite yet. And there have been some tests for
00:10:57 --> 00:11:03 it in StarCraft 2 with Different announcers like
00:11:03 --> 00:11:06 different skins different like ways of customizing
00:11:06 --> 00:11:10 your Layout for a fee. I think those are ways
00:11:10 --> 00:11:14 you could do it. The problem is that In the long
00:11:14 --> 00:11:16 run people just play it to play it and then eventually
00:11:16 --> 00:11:20 they move on to something else. It's not like
00:11:20 --> 00:11:22 First -person shooters where it's easy to figure
00:11:22 --> 00:11:26 out the monetization scheme. So I do appreciate
00:11:26 --> 00:11:31 the remastered Getting out for Warcraft 2 because
00:11:31 --> 00:11:33 I feel like it does need I feel like what really
00:11:33 --> 00:11:35 needs is just a remake of Warcraft the original
00:11:35 --> 00:11:40 I Know it wasn't as popular as the this number
00:11:40 --> 00:11:43 two But it still was a groundbreaking thing back
00:11:43 --> 00:11:45 then when I was released now I did say that you
00:11:45 --> 00:11:49 could only actually Click on one unit at a time
00:11:49 --> 00:11:53 to move them Which is very annoying to do because
00:11:53 --> 00:11:55 if you have a bunch of units just clicking them
00:11:55 --> 00:11:59 one at a time Yeah, I just it just doesn't work
00:11:59 --> 00:12:02 you're moving like a few inches each time just
00:12:02 --> 00:12:05 to get the enemy base because You couldn't drag
00:12:05 --> 00:12:08 click and then drag clicking became part of Warcraft
00:12:08 --> 00:12:11 2 which was amazing and there we're at it now
00:12:11 --> 00:12:14 I'm interested to see once it's finally been
00:12:14 --> 00:12:17 announced What new features will be getting?
00:12:17 --> 00:12:20 How the graphics will be on this one if it's
00:12:20 --> 00:12:21 gonna be a huge change or if it's just gonna
00:12:21 --> 00:12:24 be a regular change Like what is it going to
00:12:24 --> 00:12:28 be? about should be the interesting part that
00:12:28 --> 00:12:32 we're going to see. And I do know that StarCraft
00:12:32 --> 00:12:35 remaster and StarCraft 2 are now on Game Pass
00:12:35 --> 00:12:38 because Microsoft does own Blizzard, though that's
00:12:38 --> 00:12:41 not a big surprise. But I want to see what it's
00:12:41 --> 00:12:47 going to be like for Warcraft 2 and what they're
00:12:47 --> 00:12:49 going to offer, because we still don't really
00:12:49 --> 00:12:52 know what it's going to be like. And we still
00:12:52 --> 00:12:57 have Warcraft 2 technically. on battle net. It's
00:12:57 --> 00:12:59 the battle net edition version, but that's not
00:12:59 --> 00:13:03 really a remaster. It's just the old games. You
00:13:03 --> 00:13:05 can just play the old games. That's really about
00:13:05 --> 00:13:09 it. So I'm excited to see it. I'm excited to
00:13:09 --> 00:13:11 see where they're going to go. And they just
00:13:11 --> 00:13:13 remastered the original Diablo and Warcraft while
00:13:13 --> 00:13:17 you're at it as well. It's relatively low on
00:13:17 --> 00:13:20 the budget. You need to actually remaster them
00:13:20 --> 00:13:25 as opposed to making a whole new game. And us
00:13:25 --> 00:13:26 old school gamers really appreciate it because
00:13:26 --> 00:13:29 that's what we grew up on. All right. Moving
00:13:29 --> 00:13:32 on to Warner Brothers games and they're doubling
00:13:32 --> 00:13:35 down on Hogwarts legacy, Mortal Kombat, Game
00:13:35 --> 00:13:40 of Thrones and DC, particularly Batman because
00:13:40 --> 00:13:45 Batman, the Arkham series did very well because
00:13:45 --> 00:13:47 it was revolutionary for the time. It actually
00:13:47 --> 00:13:50 was a good superhero game. It was the only good
00:13:50 --> 00:13:54 superhero game. It was before Spider -Man. And
00:13:54 --> 00:13:56 they prove that you could actually make a really
00:13:56 --> 00:14:00 good superhero game. And then Insomniac did Spider
00:14:00 --> 00:14:03 -Man, and then that proved that you really can
00:14:03 --> 00:14:06 do a great job of it. The one thing that they're
00:14:06 --> 00:14:08 missing, which I don't understand why they keep
00:14:08 --> 00:14:12 on not even mentioning, is the Lord of the Rings
00:14:12 --> 00:14:17 series by Monolith. The Shadows of War. That
00:14:17 --> 00:14:21 one. That was a really good series. People love
00:14:21 --> 00:14:24 that series. I don't understand why it's missing.
00:14:24 --> 00:14:29 Like they keep on like retconning their own games.
00:14:31 --> 00:14:34 Like why? Please work on a new one. I'm waiting
00:14:34 --> 00:14:38 for the third one of the Shadows of War series.
00:14:38 --> 00:14:41 Shadows of Mordor, that series, the Shadows of
00:14:41 --> 00:14:45 series from Over the Rings. It was a great series.
00:14:45 --> 00:14:48 Shadows of Mordor, Shadows of War. We're great.
00:14:48 --> 00:14:51 They were fun. They have the Nemesis system,
00:14:51 --> 00:14:54 which you patented. So why aren't you actually
00:14:54 --> 00:14:57 making a third one of this one? Come on, Monolith
00:14:57 --> 00:15:00 Productions. I know you have it in you. Please
00:15:00 --> 00:15:04 make the third one. We're missing the trilogy
00:15:04 --> 00:15:08 ending. You left us hanging on the second one,
00:15:08 --> 00:15:13 Shadows of War. Like, why are you, why, why is
00:15:13 --> 00:15:16 this just completely just not even discussed?
00:15:17 --> 00:15:19 I get that they're making the Wonder Woman game,
00:15:19 --> 00:15:22 but I want the Lord of the Rings game that you
00:15:22 --> 00:15:27 came out with. It's a good series. I just don't
00:15:27 --> 00:15:28 understand why you still haven't made it yet.
00:15:29 --> 00:15:32 But here we are. It's just... Hogwarts Legacy.
00:15:32 --> 00:15:34 Yeah, it was a fun game. There's going to be
00:15:34 --> 00:15:35 a sequel, and then it has a Wonder Woman game
00:15:35 --> 00:15:39 in the works on Monolith Productions, which...
00:15:39 --> 00:15:42 Fine. You're making the wrong game to me because
00:15:42 --> 00:15:45 you still have the Shadows of War, Shadows of
00:15:45 --> 00:15:50 Mordor. Trilogy that I'm waiting for. Still waiting
00:15:50 --> 00:15:53 for it. It's been a while. Been a long while.
00:15:54 --> 00:15:56 It was a fun. It was a fun series. I still go
00:15:56 --> 00:15:58 back and play it every once in a while because
00:15:58 --> 00:16:01 it was that good. I still understand why you
00:16:01 --> 00:16:05 haven't made a new one. Get on it. Stop. Stop.
00:16:06 --> 00:16:08 Which leads me into Warner Brothers saying that
00:16:09 --> 00:16:11 games lost enormous amount of money this year.
00:16:11 --> 00:16:13 CEO blames lack of consistency. It was a lack
00:16:13 --> 00:16:16 of consistency. It was just, you made really
00:16:16 --> 00:16:19 bad games. The only one that was actually good
00:16:19 --> 00:16:22 was Hogwarts legacy. And even that had controversy
00:16:22 --> 00:16:27 for some odd reason. But justice league was just
00:16:27 --> 00:16:29 terrible writing, not very fun, which is weird
00:16:29 --> 00:16:31 because rock study usually is pretty good at
00:16:31 --> 00:16:34 what they do. It just, that one was terrible.
00:16:34 --> 00:16:37 And then you just made terrible decisions like
00:16:37 --> 00:16:40 Mr. Freeze was Mrs. Freeze and I just didn't
00:16:40 --> 00:16:43 understand that one whatsoever. Like that just
00:16:43 --> 00:16:46 didn't make any sense to me whatsoever. And the
00:16:46 --> 00:16:50 only few that stayed true was Mortal Kombat and
00:16:50 --> 00:16:53 Hogwarts Legacy. And even then I was like, it's
00:16:53 --> 00:16:57 all right game. It's not the best, but it wasn't
00:16:57 --> 00:17:00 terrible. And then you're going back to Batman
00:17:00 --> 00:17:03 because guess what? The Batman games were fun,
00:17:03 --> 00:17:06 but then you crapped on Batman on Justice League.
00:17:07 --> 00:17:10 It just didn't make any sense. And I played justice
00:17:10 --> 00:17:12 league. I finished it and I was like, I'm done
00:17:12 --> 00:17:16 with that one because it just wasn't that good.
00:17:16 --> 00:17:20 There was no reason to go back to it. And all
00:17:20 --> 00:17:22 the new stuff that you said, look, we got new
00:17:22 --> 00:17:24 stuff. I'm like, yeah, I still don't want to
00:17:24 --> 00:17:27 go back to it. Still don't want to go back to
00:17:27 --> 00:17:33 it. Anyways, moving on to private division. So
00:17:33 --> 00:17:36 take two has decided that it is closing role
00:17:36 --> 00:17:39 seven intercept games and selling private division,
00:17:41 --> 00:17:42 which is unfortunate, which is very unfortunate
00:17:42 --> 00:17:48 because private division was part of just making
00:17:48 --> 00:17:52 small indie games really successful. It also
00:17:52 --> 00:17:55 had one of obsidian games that they came out
00:17:55 --> 00:17:58 with outer, outer worlds. That was a fun game.
00:17:58 --> 00:18:02 That was kind of like. The fallout of our space
00:18:02 --> 00:18:04 before starfield came out and it's still better
00:18:04 --> 00:18:11 than starfield in my opinion. We also had the
00:18:11 --> 00:18:14 outer worlds. Like I said, we also had panchayas
00:18:14 --> 00:18:18 ancestor of the humankind, Odyssey. Also after
00:18:18 --> 00:18:21 us evening star pennies, big breakaway. What
00:18:21 --> 00:18:24 is workshop tales of the Shire, lower the rings
00:18:24 --> 00:18:27 game and a bunch of others, but they decided
00:18:27 --> 00:18:29 to like, Nope. We're done. We don't want to do
00:18:29 --> 00:18:32 this anymore. We're, they're just focusing more
00:18:32 --> 00:18:37 on their core catalog. It means bore lands. It
00:18:37 --> 00:18:42 means. GTA really any rock star games. We got
00:18:42 --> 00:18:45 rated redemption filing on PC and we got written
00:18:45 --> 00:18:48 redemption too, which it's there now. It's still
00:18:48 --> 00:18:50 a great game. I'd go back and play it every once
00:18:50 --> 00:18:53 in a while, but that's where we're at on this
00:18:53 --> 00:18:56 one. It's just, it's unfortunate because It did
00:18:56 --> 00:18:58 really good. But the problem was, is that Grand
00:18:58 --> 00:19:00 Theft Auto, the trilogy, the definitive edition
00:19:00 --> 00:19:05 was just not very good. That was a big issue.
00:19:05 --> 00:19:08 Had a lot of issues on that. Sorry for hitting
00:19:08 --> 00:19:14 the microphone. And it had a few good hits, but
00:19:14 --> 00:19:18 that's really about it. And you aren't making
00:19:18 --> 00:19:21 money. You're probably going to be closed. Oh,
00:19:22 --> 00:19:26 it's unfortunate. All right, new banner, Manor
00:19:26 --> 00:19:30 Lords, Manor Lords update targets one of the
00:19:30 --> 00:19:33 strategy games, biggest problems. The vital update
00:19:33 --> 00:19:38 is on the way for Manor Lords. Answer the community
00:19:38 --> 00:19:41 with fix for water and ale production. Apparently
00:19:41 --> 00:19:45 just doesn't create enough. It's a great game.
00:19:45 --> 00:19:48 I played it. It's fun. If you like Lords of the
00:19:48 --> 00:19:52 Realm, I'm dating myself again. Made in the 90s.
00:19:53 --> 00:19:56 It was a very good strategy game. It was made
00:19:56 --> 00:19:57 in the 90s. I don't think you can play it right
00:19:57 --> 00:20:00 now. I don't think it works very well, but it's
00:20:00 --> 00:20:03 very similar with all the good updates for Manors
00:20:03 --> 00:20:06 of the Lords, Manor Lords, Realm of the Lords.
00:20:06 --> 00:20:09 Now I'm mixing up my games. Realm of the Lords
00:20:09 --> 00:20:13 was in the past and this is a spiritual successor
00:20:13 --> 00:20:15 of that Manor Lords. It's actually a really good
00:20:15 --> 00:20:19 game. It's fun and you figure out how to create
00:20:19 --> 00:20:23 this medieval city. with all the nuances and
00:20:23 --> 00:20:25 everything. And they keep on like adding more
00:20:25 --> 00:20:27 things to it. It's a very fun strategy game.
00:20:27 --> 00:20:29 You haven't played it. I mean, you love strategy
00:20:29 --> 00:20:35 games and love what they do. It's really good.
00:20:35 --> 00:20:38 Like hands down, one of the better strategy games
00:20:38 --> 00:20:42 to come out with and one that's been sorely missing
00:20:42 --> 00:20:45 for a while because Lord of the Realms, like
00:20:45 --> 00:20:48 after the nineties, there was no more of it.
00:20:49 --> 00:20:53 find anyone doing it anymore. Stronghold was
00:20:53 --> 00:20:55 like, like the closest we came to it, but it
00:20:55 --> 00:20:58 really wasn't like a, it was more of a defense
00:20:58 --> 00:21:04 game over actual like strategy game. So I'm happy
00:21:04 --> 00:21:06 that they came out with this and someone decided
00:21:06 --> 00:21:10 to take a risk and actually make something pretty
00:21:10 --> 00:21:13 good. And they keep on adding more things they've
00:21:13 --> 00:21:16 added fishing crossbows and a bunch of different
00:21:16 --> 00:21:18 things and they keep on adding more to it. So.
00:21:20 --> 00:21:24 I'm loving where they're going with this. And
00:21:24 --> 00:21:26 newest update to Steam is their built in gaming
00:21:26 --> 00:21:29 recording is now live to everybody. So now you
00:21:29 --> 00:21:32 can actually do it. I've tried it out. There's
00:21:32 --> 00:21:33 still some issues with it. So I can't actually
00:21:33 --> 00:21:36 save it to my external hard drive. It will always
00:21:36 --> 00:21:38 error out every time I do it. But if I save it
00:21:38 --> 00:21:41 to an internal drive on my computer, it works.
00:21:41 --> 00:21:43 It's very weird because ShadowPlay, I can actually
00:21:43 --> 00:21:47 save it to my external hard drive and not worry
00:21:47 --> 00:21:50 about it. But this one I cannot. But you can
00:21:50 --> 00:21:53 say you can also do Steam Deck recording as well,
00:21:53 --> 00:21:56 which is great. It also has a way of either doing
00:21:56 --> 00:21:59 it manually or doing it for 120 seconds. Gives
00:21:59 --> 00:22:04 you like the quality you want it for it as well.
00:22:05 --> 00:22:07 It also seems to have some like AI tools to like
00:22:07 --> 00:22:10 show. I'm not really sure what games actually
00:22:10 --> 00:22:13 do this, but it shows like kills, deaths, like
00:22:13 --> 00:22:15 good highlights to it. Like what a lot of AI
00:22:15 --> 00:22:19 would do. I think this is more specifically to
00:22:19 --> 00:22:23 like their own games are doing it. I tried to
00:22:23 --> 00:22:25 do it with the finals. Didn't really work very
00:22:25 --> 00:22:28 well. I tried it with a single player game, Horizon
00:22:28 --> 00:22:30 Zero Dawn. That actually worked pretty well.
00:22:30 --> 00:22:33 It was a little sluggish. It seems like shadow
00:22:33 --> 00:22:37 play does work a lot better still, but I am hopeful
00:22:37 --> 00:22:39 for this. Cause I think this is a really good
00:22:39 --> 00:22:42 thing, which goes to the naysayers are like,
00:22:42 --> 00:22:46 Oh, Valve charges too much for their cut on steam.
00:22:46 --> 00:22:48 I'm like, but they make really great things like
00:22:48 --> 00:22:51 this. So I can't really fault them for the 30
00:22:51 --> 00:22:55 % cut. I get that it sucks for developers, but
00:22:55 --> 00:23:03 I ain't hurting. Not at all. So moving on to
00:23:03 --> 00:23:08 cheapskates and Why right now is the best time
00:23:08 --> 00:23:12 to play free to play games and specifically first
00:23:12 --> 00:23:16 person shooter games. But also third person.
00:23:16 --> 00:23:18 I'll put it in there. You've got deadlock is
00:23:18 --> 00:23:21 still being developed. You've got Marvel rivals,
00:23:21 --> 00:23:25 which is the third person. You've got Overwatch
00:23:25 --> 00:23:26 to put in there because they're trying to bring
00:23:26 --> 00:23:28 back six V six. So I'll put it back in there.
00:23:28 --> 00:23:33 Seven played in months. You've also got Delta
00:23:33 --> 00:23:36 force. Which is a really fun game. It kind of
00:23:36 --> 00:23:39 does better what Battlefield should have done.
00:23:39 --> 00:23:41 It doesn't have the great destruction yet, but
00:23:41 --> 00:23:43 it has that. And also, you also have the finals.
00:23:44 --> 00:23:46 You also have Counter -Strike 2. It's a really
00:23:46 --> 00:23:50 good time right now to play these free to play
00:23:50 --> 00:23:53 games. Because seriously, you have a whole bunch
00:23:53 --> 00:23:55 coming out. Marvel Rivals and Delta Force coming
00:23:55 --> 00:23:58 out in December. And you also have stuff already
00:23:58 --> 00:24:01 out. You have Counter -Strike 2. You have the
00:24:01 --> 00:24:06 finals out. as well. You also have deadlock,
00:24:06 --> 00:24:09 which is eventually will come out. We'll see
00:24:09 --> 00:24:11 when it actually comes out, but you see a lot
00:24:11 --> 00:24:13 of influencers playing it. I watch it occasionally
00:24:13 --> 00:24:15 just to kind of figure out how to play this game
00:24:15 --> 00:24:18 because that's the only way I know how to try
00:24:18 --> 00:24:20 to figure out how to play this game since I can't
00:24:20 --> 00:24:25 do it. But it's a great time to be a cheapskate
00:24:25 --> 00:24:28 because you have all these companies making all
00:24:28 --> 00:24:30 these free to play games that you don't really
00:24:30 --> 00:24:32 have to spend any money if you don't want to.
00:24:33 --> 00:24:35 and you get really good value. The finals is
00:24:35 --> 00:24:37 still a really great game and they've done a
00:24:37 --> 00:24:39 really great job of adding more things. I still
00:24:39 --> 00:24:42 think they need to fix and adjust some things.
00:24:42 --> 00:24:44 I don't know if they'll fix and adjust. I do
00:24:44 --> 00:24:47 think that the lights and I'm, I play the light
00:24:47 --> 00:24:49 class, I guess the best way of saying it quite
00:24:49 --> 00:24:52 a bit. And I think that the stealth should just
00:24:52 --> 00:24:54 be the vanishing grenades and that's it. But
00:24:54 --> 00:24:56 that's my opinion on that one. They've added
00:24:56 --> 00:25:00 a lot of new weapons. It was like, Another shotgun
00:25:00 --> 00:25:03 for the heavies. There's the chain pull thing,
00:25:04 --> 00:25:07 kind of like Roadhog's chain that you can do.
00:25:08 --> 00:25:11 The mediums have a dematerializer for one of
00:25:11 --> 00:25:14 their abilities. They have a bunch of new weapons.
00:25:14 --> 00:25:16 The mediums now have two swords that you can
00:25:16 --> 00:25:20 block bullets with. You also have lights having
00:25:20 --> 00:25:23 a bow and arrow, which is actually pretty difficult,
00:25:23 --> 00:25:24 but pretty satisfying when you actually get a
00:25:24 --> 00:25:28 kill with it. You also have heavies having...
00:25:28 --> 00:25:32 Basically a spear that they can use, shotguns.
00:25:32 --> 00:25:33 There's a bunch of different things. They have
00:25:33 --> 00:25:39 an anti -gravity gadget where you can lift the
00:25:39 --> 00:25:41 blanket off the ground and just the destruction
00:25:41 --> 00:25:43 itself. It just makes it interesting every time
00:25:43 --> 00:25:46 you play because you never really know what's
00:25:46 --> 00:25:50 going to happen. You also have different types
00:25:50 --> 00:25:53 of timed events within the game, like mega damage.
00:25:54 --> 00:25:56 If you stand in one spot for too long, you'll
00:25:56 --> 00:25:58 have orbital lasers hitting you, which I think
00:25:58 --> 00:26:02 is a genius thing to get campers moving. You
00:26:02 --> 00:26:05 just have a lot of good things happening with
00:26:05 --> 00:26:07 this game that a lot of people have overlooked.
00:26:07 --> 00:26:09 You do have X -Defiant, which I forgot about,
00:26:09 --> 00:26:11 but X -Defiant, but unfortunately that's only
00:26:11 --> 00:26:15 on Ubisoft. I do think, and I still think you
00:26:15 --> 00:26:17 need to bring it over to Steam and you'll see
00:26:17 --> 00:26:21 the numbers go up. because there's this hesitation
00:26:21 --> 00:26:25 to do it, but I'm like, you should just do it
00:26:25 --> 00:26:27 because it's free to play anyways. And you still
00:26:27 --> 00:26:30 get a cut of the money. It may not be as the
00:26:30 --> 00:26:35 full cut, but it's some cut and Ubisoft right
00:26:35 --> 00:26:39 now needs every goodwill it needs because it
00:26:39 --> 00:26:42 keeps on just crapping on itself all the time.
00:26:44 --> 00:26:48 But If you're just looking for new games to play
00:26:48 --> 00:26:51 and have fun, you don't want to spend 60, 70,
00:26:52 --> 00:26:55 80, 90, a hundred dollars to play the game. This
00:26:55 --> 00:26:59 is a really good time to go back and play those
00:26:59 --> 00:27:02 games because once December hits, I don't know
00:27:02 --> 00:27:04 when deadlocks coming out, but once December
00:27:04 --> 00:27:07 hits, you've got the Marvel rivals, which is
00:27:07 --> 00:27:09 basically competitive to Overwatch. You've got
00:27:09 --> 00:27:11 Delta Force, which is a competitor to battlefield.
00:27:12 --> 00:27:14 and escape from Tarkov because it's got two games
00:27:14 --> 00:27:17 in one basically and a single player one, which
00:27:17 --> 00:27:19 may cost money. Not really sure about that. But
00:27:19 --> 00:27:22 then you have the battlefield style of conquest
00:27:22 --> 00:27:26 or attack and defend, which is break point, I
00:27:26 --> 00:27:30 think. But you have those and you have specialists,
00:27:30 --> 00:27:34 which I don't really care about. And then you
00:27:34 --> 00:27:38 have the finals, which is very traditional, almost
00:27:38 --> 00:27:42 like Call of Duty. In some ways, Call of Duty
00:27:42 --> 00:27:47 matched with Overwatch, matched with Battlefield's
00:27:47 --> 00:27:50 destruction and better destruction than Battlefield
00:27:50 --> 00:27:54 has done in a while. You have all that with a
00:27:54 --> 00:27:59 kind of game show flair to it. And so you have
00:27:59 --> 00:28:02 like your itches resolved within these free to
00:28:02 --> 00:28:07 play market, I would say. Doing okay. Not all
00:28:07 --> 00:28:08 the games are doing really well. You can't all
00:28:08 --> 00:28:11 be the Fortnites of the gaming industry, which
00:28:11 --> 00:28:13 I don't play at all, but apparently you have
00:28:13 --> 00:28:15 that. I also forgot to mention Apex legend, which
00:28:15 --> 00:28:18 is coming back to the original. You have Fortnite,
00:28:18 --> 00:28:19 which is coming back to the original. So you
00:28:19 --> 00:28:23 have a whole bunch, even more now. A free to
00:28:23 --> 00:28:26 play options to play without really breaking
00:28:26 --> 00:28:28 the bank. I forgot to mention first descendants
00:28:28 --> 00:28:32 as well. If you like that type of a thing. Just
00:28:32 --> 00:28:35 a myriad of different things to play with very
00:28:35 --> 00:28:39 little to no money to actually play these games.
00:28:40 --> 00:28:42 And if you want to, and if you want to support
00:28:42 --> 00:28:44 them, you can, if you want to, but if you don't,
00:28:44 --> 00:28:45 you just keep on playing the game to help their
00:28:45 --> 00:28:48 numbers go up. But I do think a lot of these
00:28:48 --> 00:28:50 free to play games are being slept on because
00:28:50 --> 00:28:53 of the call of duties, the battlefields and everything
00:28:53 --> 00:28:56 else that comes out. And don't get me wrong.
00:28:56 --> 00:28:59 I love like also premium games like Stalker 2.
00:28:59 --> 00:29:01 I'm very excited about it's coming out this month
00:29:01 --> 00:29:03 as well. I'm very excited about that one. So
00:29:03 --> 00:29:07 I would say it should be interesting to see what
00:29:07 --> 00:29:14 that's going to be about. But we're in a really
00:29:14 --> 00:29:16 great time where everything is going well. And
00:29:16 --> 00:29:22 if Overwatch 2 comes out with 6v6 again, that's
00:29:22 --> 00:29:24 another one because 5v5 is not working, hasn't
00:29:24 --> 00:29:27 worked since launched. And I want it 6v6 back
00:29:27 --> 00:29:30 because I miss playing tank with another tank.
00:29:31 --> 00:29:33 Cause I actually installed it months ago cause
00:29:33 --> 00:29:36 I was tired of it and I was tired of playing
00:29:36 --> 00:29:38 tank or anybody other characters that decided
00:29:38 --> 00:29:42 to nerf or rework my poor Sombra, rip Sombra.
00:29:43 --> 00:29:46 But anyways, it's always good to see that you
00:29:46 --> 00:29:48 have options now to which games you want to play.
00:29:48 --> 00:29:51 And you have a ton of options and they always
00:29:51 --> 00:29:53 want your business either playing the game or
00:29:53 --> 00:29:57 spending things because they need that. So to
00:29:57 --> 00:29:59 my cheapskates out there, to the people that
00:29:59 --> 00:30:03 are looking to save money, to my people that
00:30:03 --> 00:30:05 have been hit economically through inflation,
00:30:06 --> 00:30:08 it's a great time to be playing free to play
00:30:08 --> 00:30:13 games. And thank you for joining this podcast
