00:00:00 --> 00:00:02 And welcome to a new episode of a digital coffee
00:00:02 --> 00:00:05 gaming brew, and I'm your host Brett Deister, and
00:00:05 --> 00:00:09 this is the first episode of 2025. So we're going
00:00:09 --> 00:00:13 to be talking about AMD just announced their
00:00:13 --> 00:00:21 new 9950X3D, the Vcash one, the one supposed
00:00:21 --> 00:00:22 to be really good. They announced it. We're talking
00:00:22 --> 00:00:27 about that. Marvel Rivals has a season one updates
00:00:27 --> 00:00:31 and You're gonna be able to play your favorite
00:00:31 --> 00:00:35 games on select LG smart TVs. Yes, even PC gaming
00:00:35 --> 00:00:42 is going TV way and my hope for 2025 is gonna
00:00:42 --> 00:00:44 be a little bit of shorter one, but it's gonna
00:00:44 --> 00:00:47 be a good one. So let's get on with the show
00:01:00 --> 00:01:04 Hmm. That's good. And as always, please subscribe
00:01:04 --> 00:01:06 to this podcast and all your favorite podcast
00:01:06 --> 00:01:08 guests. But anyways, Marvel rival says just announced
00:01:08 --> 00:01:12 season one that's coming in just four days and
00:01:12 --> 00:01:15 it's going to have fantastic for all four of
00:01:15 --> 00:01:17 them. They're not going to release one at a time
00:01:17 --> 00:01:19 or they might during the season, but they're
00:01:19 --> 00:01:22 going to release all four of them. That is the
00:01:22 --> 00:01:27 thing that is Johnny storm. That is Mr. Fantastic
00:01:27 --> 00:01:30 as invisible woman. So we're going to have all
00:01:30 --> 00:01:35 that coming for for us. We're going to stop Morbius
00:01:35 --> 00:01:39 from doing his terrible dastardly things in the
00:01:39 --> 00:01:42 newest one. But you got four days for season
00:01:42 --> 00:01:45 one to come out. We're at season zero right now.
00:01:45 --> 00:01:47 It should be interesting to see what's going
00:01:47 --> 00:01:49 to happen. And to be honest with you, I think
00:01:49 --> 00:01:51 Marvel Rivals is probably going to be one of
00:01:51 --> 00:01:54 the best games of 2025. And that also includes
00:01:54 --> 00:02:00 Delta Force in there as well. I also think. Kingdom
00:02:00 --> 00:02:02 Come Deliverance 2 is going to be a great game
00:02:02 --> 00:02:08 for 2025. We've got two points the museum game
00:02:08 --> 00:02:10 they've done a bunch of different ones so two
00:02:10 --> 00:02:12 points museum they did two points university
00:02:12 --> 00:02:15 and two points hospital and they're just continuing
00:02:15 --> 00:02:21 with that. We have Monster Hunter Wilds as well
00:02:21 --> 00:02:22 it's gonna come out it's gonna be really good.
00:02:23 --> 00:02:27 I'm a little shaky on Civilization the newest
00:02:27 --> 00:02:29 one. Not too sure about that one. We got Final
00:02:29 --> 00:02:33 Fantasy 7 Rebirth for the PC, which will be fun
00:02:33 --> 00:02:36 to play with. But that's really about it right
00:02:36 --> 00:02:39 now. And those are coming in January and February.
00:02:39 --> 00:02:43 So look out for those. Like I said, I'm still
00:02:43 --> 00:02:48 iffy on Civilization, but I am very confident
00:02:48 --> 00:02:54 about Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Two Points
00:02:54 --> 00:02:56 Museum as well. Should be a fun little thing.
00:02:57 --> 00:02:59 The other ones I'm looking forward to is going
00:02:59 --> 00:03:03 to be Doom Dark Ages, and that's really about
00:03:03 --> 00:03:08 it right now. Yeah, Slim Pickings for 2025 so
00:03:08 --> 00:03:11 far, but we also have Arma Reforger having a
00:03:11 --> 00:03:14 huge resurgence as well, so we should be interesting.
00:03:14 --> 00:03:17 But back to my thing, I think what NetEase is
00:03:17 --> 00:03:20 doing in Marvel Rivals is genius. They're really
00:03:20 --> 00:03:25 taking away a lot of momentum from Overwatch.
00:03:25 --> 00:03:29 over here to Marvel Rivals and rightfully so
00:03:29 --> 00:03:31 because they've done a lot of things really well.
00:03:32 --> 00:03:36 But we'll see how well this continues and how
00:03:36 --> 00:03:38 well this will actually maintain as well. We
00:03:38 --> 00:03:41 still have Delta Force as well and they were
00:03:41 --> 00:03:42 supposed to be coming out with a single player
00:03:42 --> 00:03:44 this year, not really sure when. That should
00:03:44 --> 00:03:47 be an interesting thing to check out as well.
00:03:48 --> 00:03:51 All right moving on to CES and AMD just revealed
00:03:51 --> 00:03:54 their new processor but they have not revealed
00:03:55 --> 00:03:58 any of their graphics cards of course so they
00:03:58 --> 00:04:02 just revealed the 9950x3d and this is supposed
00:04:02 --> 00:04:05 to be the best for gaming and the best for content
00:04:05 --> 00:04:08 creation it has a max boost frequency of 5 .7
00:04:08 --> 00:04:14 hertz has 16 zen 5 cpu cores and 144 megabytes
00:04:14 --> 00:04:19 of total cache with second gen amd v cache technology
00:04:19 --> 00:04:21 basically what it's saying is that it's supposed
00:04:21 --> 00:04:27 to be better than this 7950x3d and supposed to
00:04:27 --> 00:04:29 be better than the intel one as well it's supposed
00:04:29 --> 00:04:33 to have basically they said it's supposed to
00:04:33 --> 00:04:36 be a 20 % boost over the 7950x and supposed to
00:04:36 --> 00:04:44 be about a 10 % boost from the amd chip to 285k
00:04:44 --> 00:04:48 also for content creation it's supposed to have
00:04:48 --> 00:04:53 a huge boost in about i would say about Probably
00:04:53 --> 00:04:56 around 10 % they seem to be like 10 % is the
00:04:56 --> 00:04:58 is like the marker for them It's 10 % this 10
00:04:58 --> 00:05:02 % that but it's supposed to be a really good
00:05:02 --> 00:05:05 Indicator of the best of both worlds now until
00:05:05 --> 00:05:08 we actually get this in the hands of reviewers
00:05:08 --> 00:05:11 we really don't know and You always have to be
00:05:11 --> 00:05:14 careful about what the company says about their
00:05:14 --> 00:05:17 own stuff because let's be honest with you It's
00:05:17 --> 00:05:20 not always going to be exactly that it could
00:05:20 --> 00:05:23 be but a lot of times it's probably more like
00:05:23 --> 00:05:26 a 5 % boost and in certain cases it could be
00:05:26 --> 00:05:28 even lower or it could actually be higher to
00:05:28 --> 00:05:31 15 -20 % boost. We will actually have to see
00:05:31 --> 00:05:36 but if you have the latest motherboards you can
00:05:36 --> 00:05:38 just get the CPU and not worry about getting
00:05:38 --> 00:05:40 another motherboard if you want to spend the
00:05:40 --> 00:05:42 money for it because I'm pretty sure it's gonna
00:05:42 --> 00:05:46 be around 500 maybe more dollars for the CPU
00:05:46 --> 00:05:49 itself because this is the top end of the Ryzen
00:05:49 --> 00:05:52 processor you can get. Now they did have more
00:05:52 --> 00:05:55 talk about, but I was not interested at all because
00:05:55 --> 00:05:57 I had nothing to do with it. It was just basically
00:05:57 --> 00:06:02 their AI CPUs that really don't really matter
00:06:02 --> 00:06:05 too much. They did talk a little bit about the
00:06:05 --> 00:06:11 future of FSR and FSR4 and machine learning and
00:06:11 --> 00:06:14 all the other fun stuff, but they didn't really
00:06:14 --> 00:06:17 have much. It was just a very big promotional
00:06:17 --> 00:06:20 thing about how Microsoft was so excited to be
00:06:20 --> 00:06:22 working with them and blah, blah, blah, blah.
00:06:23 --> 00:06:27 And it's okay. Yeah. It was worthless. If you're
00:06:27 --> 00:06:29 going to do it, just show us something, but just
00:06:29 --> 00:06:31 don't have somebody from the company. That's
00:06:31 --> 00:06:34 obviously going to talk how great it is about
00:06:34 --> 00:06:36 it. Cause they're not going to bash you. And
00:06:36 --> 00:06:40 I'm pretty sure they'll be over to Nvidia when
00:06:40 --> 00:06:44 they have their announcements as well. But right
00:06:44 --> 00:06:48 now. The 9950X3D is supposed to be available
00:06:48 --> 00:06:53 Q1 of 2025 so relatively soon. Not really sure
00:06:53 --> 00:06:56 exactly when because they haven't given us an
00:06:56 --> 00:07:00 exact date but they do have a time frame of about
00:07:00 --> 00:07:06 three to four months give or take. So be on the
00:07:06 --> 00:07:08 lookout for it if you're looking for a new chip
00:07:08 --> 00:07:14 and that hopefully this round of 9000 series
00:07:14 --> 00:07:16 rising is better than when it first launched
00:07:16 --> 00:07:18 because it did not do very well when it launched
00:07:18 --> 00:07:22 at All it was pretty bad All right for you lovers
00:07:22 --> 00:07:24 that love PC, but also want a really big TV You
00:07:24 --> 00:07:28 can actually if you have the Xbox game pass ultimate
00:07:28 --> 00:07:35 you can play black ops 6 and others on Your TV
00:07:36 --> 00:07:39 yes you read that right you can actually play
00:07:39 --> 00:07:41 it on your TV how well it will run on your TV
00:07:41 --> 00:07:44 depends on your TV but you can actually play
00:07:44 --> 00:07:47 it meaning you don't need a console meaning you
00:07:47 --> 00:07:51 don't need a PC you have it all on your TV which
00:07:51 --> 00:07:56 probably more is the future of casual console
00:07:56 --> 00:07:59 and PC games than anything else but there is
00:07:59 --> 00:08:03 a fee of I think it's now $20 a month. If I'm
00:08:03 --> 00:08:05 not mistaken for the ultimate, the ultimate is
00:08:05 --> 00:08:09 the only way you can play the cloud stuff. It's
00:08:09 --> 00:08:10 the only way you can play this. So if you want
00:08:10 --> 00:08:13 to play a vow, which I don't recommend or any
00:08:13 --> 00:08:15 of those other games, Starfield, if you really
00:08:15 --> 00:08:18 want to hate yourself, then you can actually
00:08:18 --> 00:08:23 play them. But to be honest, I don't think it's
00:08:23 --> 00:08:28 worth that much. I mean, yes, Xbox. purchased
00:08:28 --> 00:08:32 Microsoft Activision Blizzard, which basically
00:08:32 --> 00:08:35 means they got Call of Duty and all the Blizzard
00:08:35 --> 00:08:37 stuff because Activision doesn't make anything
00:08:37 --> 00:08:41 but Call of Duty now. So you have Overwatch 2,
00:08:41 --> 00:08:44 which normally very few people play or not as
00:08:44 --> 00:08:48 many people played and are over on Marvel Rivals.
00:08:48 --> 00:08:51 You have World of Warcraft, you have Diablo 4,
00:08:51 --> 00:08:56 you have all the other remastered classics. Like
00:08:56 --> 00:08:58 Diablo 2 remastered. I wish they would do Diablo
00:08:58 --> 00:09:01 1 remastered. That would actually be fun. You
00:09:01 --> 00:09:04 also have Diablo 3. You have Warcraft 1 and 2
00:09:04 --> 00:09:09 remastered. You have Warcraft 3 reforged as well.
00:09:09 --> 00:09:12 So you have a lot of the remastered stuff. You
00:09:12 --> 00:09:14 also have Starcraft 1 and 2. Starcraft 1 was
00:09:14 --> 00:09:17 remastered a few years ago. So you have a lot
00:09:17 --> 00:09:20 of remasters and not very many new games from
00:09:20 --> 00:09:22 Blizzard right now. And you also have World of
00:09:22 --> 00:09:25 Warcraft, which I don't know if it's part of
00:09:25 --> 00:09:28 that yet. You do have that. You also have Sea
00:09:28 --> 00:09:30 of Thieves, which is actually a pretty good game.
00:09:30 --> 00:09:33 You can play Jones if you really want to. You
00:09:33 --> 00:09:36 have the Flight Simulator 2024, which has been
00:09:36 --> 00:09:41 off to a rough start, but you have options if
00:09:41 --> 00:09:45 you want to purchase that. It is pricey, so do
00:09:45 --> 00:09:47 not have the budget. I recommend you don't do
00:09:47 --> 00:09:50 it. All right, since this is the first episode
00:09:50 --> 00:09:54 2025, I want to look for be helpful, like what
00:09:54 --> 00:09:57 I'm hopeful for 2025. I'm hopeful for better
00:09:57 --> 00:10:01 games that are written better than what we've
00:10:01 --> 00:10:03 gotten from the cream of the crop. I'm talking
00:10:03 --> 00:10:09 because, and this has been written a lot. This
00:10:09 --> 00:10:12 year will be the make or break of a lot of AAA
00:10:12 --> 00:10:16 publishers and titles because people have been
00:10:16 --> 00:10:20 not as willing to play the AAA titles, especially
00:10:20 --> 00:10:23 last year. I think Steam said it was about like
00:10:23 --> 00:10:29 15%. it wasn't even above 20 % of players played
00:10:29 --> 00:10:33 new AAA games, which is a problem for publishers
00:10:33 --> 00:10:36 is if you're not buying the games, they're not
00:10:36 --> 00:10:39 getting any money. And this is why Assassin's
00:10:39 --> 00:10:43 Creed was postponed once again to this year,
00:10:43 --> 00:10:47 February 14th. If you want to play that game,
00:10:47 --> 00:10:49 I certainly will wait until the bargain bin.
00:10:50 --> 00:10:55 But if you are for that, then by all means, have
00:10:55 --> 00:10:59 at it, but what I'm hopeful for is that developers
00:10:59 --> 00:11:03 have finally gotten it. Helldivers 2 COO, the
00:11:03 --> 00:11:06 creative director gets it and says that DEI is
00:11:06 --> 00:11:08 not a good thing. It doesn't make games fun.
00:11:08 --> 00:11:11 And I'm like, thank you. This is why they're
00:11:11 --> 00:11:14 successful. And this is why Concord failed after
00:11:14 --> 00:11:18 two weeks or 14 days or whatever. Very short
00:11:18 --> 00:11:22 time, very short lived game. And this is why.
00:11:23 --> 00:11:28 if you're not going to put fun great design and
00:11:28 --> 00:11:35 great storytelling above whatever whatever political
00:11:35 --> 00:11:37 philosophy you have right now it's not going
00:11:37 --> 00:11:41 to work the reason why I enjoy playing income
00:11:41 --> 00:11:43 deliverance because it was a fun game that was
00:11:43 --> 00:11:47 historical and was true and they didn't try to
00:11:47 --> 00:11:51 shoehorn the politically correct things to it
00:11:51 --> 00:11:55 because that's the cool thing to do, which really
00:11:55 --> 00:11:58 isn't because gamers just have said resoundingly
00:11:58 --> 00:12:03 no not to do it. So I'm really hopeful that publishers
00:12:03 --> 00:12:05 and developers will learn from Stalker 2, have
00:12:05 --> 00:12:07 learned from Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, which
00:12:07 --> 00:12:12 is coming out next month, has learned from Marvel
00:12:12 --> 00:12:15 Rivals, has learned from Delta Force. All these
00:12:15 --> 00:12:18 games have done really well. Why? Because they
00:12:18 --> 00:12:21 prioritized fun gameplay loops and fun design.
00:12:22 --> 00:12:26 over political ideologies. If you do that you'll
00:12:26 --> 00:12:29 win. Gamers like it when you make fun games for
00:12:29 --> 00:12:31 them and you're not bashing them over the head
00:12:31 --> 00:12:34 how terrible they are as a white male or anything
00:12:34 --> 00:12:39 else or that you're straight or whatever. We
00:12:39 --> 00:12:43 will support you. But if you continue to do this
00:12:43 --> 00:12:46 path of I'm gonna lecture you because you're
00:12:46 --> 00:12:51 a terrible person because of the race or gender
00:12:51 --> 00:12:56 you were born then we're gonna have a problem
00:12:56 --> 00:13:01 it doesn't matter it shouldn't matter but apparently
00:13:01 --> 00:13:06 it has to matter to them because they may need
00:13:06 --> 00:13:08 to make themselves feel better but it makes no
00:13:08 --> 00:13:10 sense because again and i've always said this
00:13:10 --> 00:13:13 and i will say this time and time again your
00:13:13 --> 00:13:18 target audience is males majority of it is going
00:13:18 --> 00:13:24 to be males so cater to the male audience and
00:13:24 --> 00:13:26 you will do well. This is why I'm excited for
00:13:26 --> 00:13:28 Doom the Dark Ages because it still caters to
00:13:28 --> 00:13:33 that male audience and that masculinity. If you
00:13:33 --> 00:13:35 want to call it toxic, then that's your choice.
00:13:35 --> 00:13:39 You're still stupid, but it caters to that. It's
00:13:39 --> 00:13:43 why a lot of these old games we like so much
00:13:43 --> 00:13:45 and we'll go back to playing the old games if
00:13:45 --> 00:13:47 the new ones don't do very well. I'm very skeptical
00:13:47 --> 00:13:49 of what you're for. I don't think it's going
00:13:49 --> 00:13:52 to do as well. I think they totally mismanaged
00:13:52 --> 00:13:55 it and I'm actually more afraid of the Witcher
00:13:55 --> 00:13:58 original remake because they're trying to change
00:13:58 --> 00:14:01 things that don't really fit or we don't like
00:14:01 --> 00:14:03 it so we're gonna change it so you're gonna have
00:14:03 --> 00:14:07 to be happy about it and I'm good no thank you
00:14:07 --> 00:14:14 and that's what's gonna happen like you could
00:14:14 --> 00:14:17 see Grand Theft Auto tank because it decided
00:14:17 --> 00:14:19 that it needed to be politically correct than
00:14:19 --> 00:14:25 actually a fun game Fun games make sales. Games
00:14:25 --> 00:14:31 that lecture us don't and will fail. Like just
00:14:31 --> 00:14:34 make a fun game. Stop lecturing me how terrible
00:14:34 --> 00:14:37 I am because I'm a white male. Stop lecturing
00:14:37 --> 00:14:38 other gamers saying how terrible they are because
00:14:38 --> 00:14:41 they're just male. They like women. You like
00:14:41 --> 00:14:45 beautiful women. That's not what we want. We
00:14:45 --> 00:14:49 don't want to be lectured anymore. Stop lecturing
00:14:49 --> 00:14:53 us. I don't care. I don't care if you're a weirdo.
00:14:53 --> 00:14:58 Keep your weirdness to yourself. It doesn't matter
00:14:58 --> 00:15:02 to me. But if you bring your weirdness into the
00:15:02 --> 00:15:05 games, and I don't like it, I'm not gonna buy
00:15:05 --> 00:15:07 it, so don't call me a racist, sexist, or whatever,
00:15:08 --> 00:15:10 because I'm still not gonna buy it. You calling
00:15:10 --> 00:15:13 me names doesn't make me want to spend money.
00:15:15 --> 00:15:20 Which is funny because, again, The gaming media
00:15:20 --> 00:15:25 got mad at one of the developers at Kingdom Come
00:15:25 --> 00:15:27 Deliverance 2 because he said, hey look, our
00:15:27 --> 00:15:30 game is doing better than Dragon Age Veilguard,
00:15:31 --> 00:15:33 which their game came out in 2018 and Veilguard
00:15:33 --> 00:15:35 came out recently and everybody's like, well
00:15:35 --> 00:15:37 it's on sale. I'm like, doesn't matter if it's
00:15:37 --> 00:15:39 doing better than a new game, that's actually
00:15:39 --> 00:15:44 pretty bad. That's really bad. It came out three
00:15:44 --> 00:15:48 months ago, four months now, and it was... doing
00:15:48 --> 00:15:57 better than the game that came out in 2018. That's
00:15:57 --> 00:16:01 bad. That's like, that's embarrassing for EA
00:16:01 --> 00:16:06 and for BioWare who I don't really have a lot
00:16:06 --> 00:16:12 of hope on Mass Effect 5 being good because unfortunately
00:16:12 --> 00:16:14 a lot of developers that made BioWare what it
00:16:14 --> 00:16:19 is are gone. And when they're gone, all that
00:16:19 --> 00:16:22 talent leaves, you're left with the people that
00:16:22 --> 00:16:24 aren't very talented. This is what's going to
00:16:24 --> 00:16:27 happen for CD Projekt Red. A lot of those people
00:16:27 --> 00:16:33 that created Witcher 3 are gone. So we might
00:16:33 --> 00:16:37 be left with the lesser of it, including the
00:16:37 --> 00:16:40 lore guy that apparently wants to punch gamers.
00:16:43 --> 00:16:47 Don't get me started on that, but... I'm hopeful
00:16:47 --> 00:16:51 that these hard lessons will eventually sink
00:16:51 --> 00:16:54 in. Plus I'm actually hopeful that the AA games
00:16:54 --> 00:16:58 will actually be doing way better than what we're
00:16:58 --> 00:17:01 offering for AAA. AAA will just be AAA, but it'll
00:17:01 --> 00:17:05 try to appeal to the masses. But the AA games
00:17:05 --> 00:17:08 is really where we're going to see a lot more
00:17:08 --> 00:17:13 of the creative fun games like Manor Lords, which
00:17:13 --> 00:17:15 is still going through it. I would say Helldivers
00:17:15 --> 00:17:18 2 is more of a double -A game than a triple -A
00:17:18 --> 00:17:19 game, but eventually it's going to be a triple
00:17:19 --> 00:17:23 -A game. We're going to see more of the stalkers,
00:17:23 --> 00:17:25 we're going to see more of the intruded, we're
00:17:25 --> 00:17:28 going to see more of the Path of Exiles type
00:17:28 --> 00:17:34 of developers coming up and really just answering
00:17:34 --> 00:17:39 or being the pushback to the triple -A developers
00:17:39 --> 00:17:42 and publishers not understanding how to talk
00:17:42 --> 00:17:45 to gamers because of the modern audience yeah
00:17:45 --> 00:17:49 uh -huh modern audience yeah the modern audience
00:17:49 --> 00:17:52 the same was has been before for the past 30
00:17:52 --> 00:17:55 years it hasn't changed you have changed into
00:17:55 --> 00:17:58 being weird but it hasn't changed that's my hope
00:17:58 --> 00:18:00 my hope is that they're actually finally going
00:18:00 --> 00:18:05 to learn or a lot of them are going to be in
00:18:05 --> 00:18:07 financial trouble the gaming industry has done
00:18:07 --> 00:18:11 it has been not very good for a couple of years,
00:18:11 --> 00:18:13 but a lot of industries have not been good for
00:18:13 --> 00:18:16 a couple of years, mainly because of terrible
00:18:16 --> 00:18:18 policies and terrible spending, but also because
00:18:18 --> 00:18:24 of terrible ideas being pushed to the forefront.
00:18:25 --> 00:18:27 And then the mass audiences, we reject this,
00:18:27 --> 00:18:31 we don't like this, leave us alone. So my hope
00:18:31 --> 00:18:35 is that AAA developers finally get their act
00:18:35 --> 00:18:40 together. That doubly developers get the Line
00:18:40 --> 00:18:42 might that they deserve because they do look
00:18:42 --> 00:18:46 at developer No man's sky that game is still
00:18:46 --> 00:18:49 being updated And it was people hated it when
00:18:49 --> 00:18:51 it first came out and people now love it because
00:18:51 --> 00:18:53 the developers were not done yet We're gonna
00:18:53 --> 00:18:56 keep on pumping out content for you guys And
00:18:56 --> 00:18:58 this will be a feature rich and it is a feature
00:18:58 --> 00:19:00 rich game and they're still bringing out more.
00:19:01 --> 00:19:07 That's crazy But we'll see we'll see if They
00:19:07 --> 00:19:09 figure it out. I'm hopeful they will. I'm hopeful
00:19:09 --> 00:19:13 that they see those numbers from Stalker 2, from
00:19:13 --> 00:19:18 Path of Exile 2, from Marvel Rivals, from Delta
00:19:18 --> 00:19:22 Force, from all those games that are either free
00:19:22 --> 00:19:25 to play or not as, doesn't have a bigger budget,
00:19:25 --> 00:19:29 and they're trouncing all the other AAA studios.
00:19:30 --> 00:19:34 I'm looking forward to that. And thank you for
