AI in Game Development, Industry Survey Rants, and Gaming Hardware Fails of 2025

Nvidia's about to pull the rug out from under us, cutting GPU production by up to 40% in early 2026 thanks to some DRAM supply shenanigans. So, if you're itching for a new graphics card, better act fast—like, this month fast—because the wait could stretch out to two, three, or even four years if you decide to sit this one out. Spoiler alert: that’s about as appealing as a soggy sandwich. And let’s not even get started on the Epic Game Store—I'm officially over it. Free games? Who cares if it hogs my system resources like a greedy roommate? All this while we ponder the absurdity of it all, from AI’s potential in gaming to the messy state of industry diversity discussions. Buckle up, folks, it’s a wild ride through the gaming landscape, and trust me, you’re gonna want to hang on tight!

Speaker A

Nvidia is reportedly planning to cut discrete GPU production by up to 40% in the first half of 2026 due to DRAM supply issues.

Speaker A

If you need a graphics card now, buy it this month.

Speaker A

If you don't, you can wait it out.

Speaker A

Wait it out.

Speaker A

But remember, you're waiting out two, three, maybe four years.

Speaker A

So it's going to be a while.

Speaker A

But now, nah, even I'm like, I don't.

Speaker A

I'm going to get rid of Epic Game Store because I just don't want it.

Speaker A

I don't need it.

Speaker A

It's a resource that is being used.

Speaker A

And he is referencing his first game that came out in 2019.

Speaker A

It's things have changed.

Speaker A

I don't care anymore about your free games.

Speaker A

If your software clogs my system up, I'm getting rid of you.

Speaker A

I don't need you.

Speaker A

Nobody's gonna buy your game if it's 32 gigs of RAM or more.

Speaker A

16.

Speaker A

And below is the sweet spot.

Speaker A

Everything is made from something else and a lot of times they're wrong.

Speaker A

That's the biggest issue, is that they make up facts like humans.

Speaker A

Trust me, if you don't think we make up facts, we make up facts all the time.

Speaker A

Hey there.

Speaker A

Welcome back to Digital Coffee Gaming Brew.

Speaker A

I'm your host, Brett Dyser.

Speaker A

In today's episode, I'm diving into the latest PC building woes channel.

Speaker A

Mmm, that's good.

Speaker A

Let's get on with the show.

Speaker A

So we have for us that Nvidia is reportedly planning to cut discrete GPU production by up to 40% in the first half of 2026 due to DRAM supply issues.

Speaker A

Information originates from a claim posted on the Chinese Board Channels forum which has referenced by overclock3d.

Speaker A

The reduction of GPU productions is linked to a broader DRAM supply crisis affecting the entire computing industry, which is expected to result in fewer desktop and laptop PCs being shipped.

Speaker A

Currently there is a sufficient supply of GeForce RTX 50 series cards, except for the more expensive cards RTX 5080 and the 5090 models.

Speaker A

Nvidia and its partners have increased production since the launch of the Blackwell series of GPUs which is never been enough.

Speaker A

Some vendors are expected to adjust supplies of 16 gig models first like RTX 5060 Ti and the RTX 5070 Ti due to the higher RAM VRAM requirements.

Speaker A

There are rumors of Nvidia planning to release the RTX 50 super variants that will use a 3 gigabyte GDDR7 modules instead of the standard 2 gigabyte ones, but Samsung is currently the primary producer of the 3 gigabyte GDR7 modules.

Speaker A

Now this is a big deal because I don't think the super variants are going to come out anytime soon.

Speaker A

I think they may just be scrapped entirely because of this issue and how long it's going to take.

Speaker A

It might as well just be like, all right, we're just going to go with the 6000 series and the supers are no longer a thing because at least with just focusing on the 6000 series they have a longer development cycle to figure out how to adjust for this.

Speaker A

Or maybe just wait out the issue with ram.

Speaker A

Now it could happen with AMD too.

Speaker A

I don't really foresee them launching anything new except for the apparently the supposed low power mode, but that's really going to be about it for that.

Speaker A

This series or this generation of GPUs is not going to be very long and it's not going to get very much support beyond just the driver updates.

Speaker A

But beyond that, not going to be anything new.

Speaker A

I don't foresee anything new beyond what I just said with the 9060 XT low power mode.

Speaker A

And that really doesn't really modify too much of it.

Speaker A

You're not going to see any new variants of these cards, especially since finding a 5080 and finding a 5090 is so hard to find.

Speaker A

If you're looking for that and everything else, there's a lot more.

Speaker A

But Nvidia has not been producing a lot of these graphics cards.

Speaker A

To be honest with you, it was hard to find it.

Speaker A

When I decided to pull the trigger for Christmas, didn't get the 5080 cards and I had to look and keep on looking for a close to MSRP1 that I could find, which I luckily did.

Speaker A

But it was not Easy and most 5,80s are way over MSRP.

Speaker A

So in 1590s, forget about it, they're always over MSRP.

Speaker A

I found two cards, maybe three cards for the 5080 series that were $100 or at MSRP.

Speaker A

The rest of them were like 400 or more over MSRP.

Speaker A

Luckily I found one of them.

Speaker A

Thank you Micro center for these.

Speaker A

Having somewhat decent prices.

Speaker A

But yeah, it's really going to get worse.

Speaker A

If you need a graphics card now, buy it this month.

Speaker A

If you don't, you can wait it out.

Speaker A

Wait it out.

Speaker A

But remember you're waiting out two, three, maybe four years so it's going to be a while.

Speaker A

And if you need a new phone, get it now because there's going to be issues with that too.

Speaker A

All right, so Lords of the Fallen 2 will be exclusively available on the Epic Game Store for PC and the founder and CEO of CI Games stated that the majority of PC players who want a specific game will purchase it on Epic if it's exclusive.

Speaker A

The there maybe times have changed.

Speaker A

Maybe before even I was like couple years before I was a little bit more lax on it.

Speaker A

Now I'm like yeah, I don't really want to play on Epic.

Speaker A

That store is not good.

Speaker A

And apparently it's a resource hog too.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker A

No, but he's referenced the GSD game sales data as a source of for his claim about PC player behavior but did not provide specific sales data or statistics.

Speaker A

Yeah, that's it means you're cherry picking.

Speaker A

The other issue is what Alan Wake 2 released in 2023 is mentioned as a comparable title that was also tied to the Epic Game Store.

Speaker A

It took until the end of 2024 to become profitable across all systems.

Speaker A

It took a full year for it to be profitable.

Speaker A

And you're telling me that it doesn't matter what game store that PC players will just buy from?

Speaker A

Yeah, it's highly unlikely.

Speaker A

Maybe a few years ago that was possible, but now, nah.

Speaker A

Even I'm like I don't.

Speaker A

I'm going to get rid of the Epic Game Store because I just don't want it.

Speaker A

I don't need it.

Speaker A

It's a resource that is being used.

Speaker A

And he is referencing his first game that came out in 2019.

Speaker A

It's things have changed.

Speaker A

Maybe 2020, it came out a few years ago.

Speaker A

Things have changed.

Speaker A

Especially with the RAM issue.

Speaker A

You're now looking at every bit of resource that you can find to cut it.

Speaker A

So you can actually say I can deal with the RAM I've got.

Speaker A

So we're looking for ways to cut things.

Speaker A

We're looking for ways to make our system as efficient and long lasting as possible.

Speaker A

Now because I don't want to buy RAM sticks.

Speaker A

It's not fun.

Speaker A

He may have been right previously, but I don't think it's right now.

Speaker A

I think PC players do not like other game front or storefronts.

Speaker A

We don't really like EA desktop app.

Speaker A

I don't really like it myself.

Speaker A

We don't like Ubisoft's trash.

Speaker A

That's even worse.

Speaker A

We don't like Epic Games Store because really it's just a somewhat nicer version of Steam.

Speaker A

I give a pass for Gog because it's not that bad.

Speaker A

But mostly Xbox is horrendous Battle Net is okay.

Speaker A

And then we also have Was it Rockstar has one.

Speaker A

I got rid of that one.

Speaker A

Like I said, I'm getting rid of things that I don't really need anymore and one of them is the Epic Game Store.

Speaker A

I don't care anymore about your free games.

Speaker A

If your software clogs my system up, I'm getting rid of you because I don't need you.

Speaker A

So is he correct at the time of the first game coming out?

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Is he correct now?

Speaker A

Well, time will tell, but I make sure to not buy it until it comes on Steam, so at least one PC gamer doesn't care.

Speaker A

All right, so Riot Games is playing significant overhaul of League of legends in 2027, referred to internally as League Next.

Speaker A

The update will include changes to the game's client and in game visuals, gameplay mechanics, runes, pre game systems and a new player experience.

Speaker A

An internal restructuring Riot Games has been announced alongside this project.

Speaker A

Riot Games has indicated that more details about the innovation will be shared in 2026, specifically between the MSI and Worlds competitive events which occur in June and October.

Speaker A

Recent innovations in League of Legends includes a thematic seasonal approach and new WASD keyboard controls aimed at improving accessibility for new players.

Speaker A

The game has been described as utterly gigantic and stable, having expanded into areas beyond video games, which is good I guess.

Speaker A

It's a 17 year old game, so it's had a long life and it does need a bit of overhauls.

Speaker A

Look at what's new, but it runs on just about every machine you can think of, which is good for them and is where you want to be.

Speaker A

Always as well optimized as you can be just because of what's happening down the line, which is RAM prices.

Speaker A

Devs are now going to have to consider how to optimize it for smaller RAM because nobody's going to buy your game if it's 32 gigs of RAM or more.

Speaker A

16 and below is the sweet spot.

Speaker A

It's the best sweet spot.

Speaker A

So you're going to have to figure out how to optimize your games from now on until those RAM issue is over because nobody wants to buy new ram.

Speaker A

If you make your game make us buy new ram.

Speaker A

No one's going to play your game just going to say it, but I'm glad that they're actually making League of Legends better now.

Speaker A

Will it be better when they make this game or make these updates?

Speaker A

I really don't know.

Speaker A

I don't really play League of Legends.

Speaker A

I know it's a very popular game.

Speaker A

It's been Popular for a very long time.

Speaker A

But we'll see if these updates actually translate with the player community or if it's just a huge misfire.

Speaker A

All right, so Joseph Cross has been an artist at Bungie for over a decade.

Speaker A

He served as the lead art director for Bungie's new game Marathon.

Speaker A

Cross participated in a live stream earlier in the year with Marathon's game director, Joe Ziggler, where Bungie acknowledged using art from artist Anti Real without permission or proper accreditation.

Speaker A

That's a big no no.

Speaker A

Cross's LinkedIn page indicated that he has left Bungie after he.

Speaker A

The report by the Game Post confirmed Cross confirmed his departure on X.

Speaker A

So Marathon not a good game.

Speaker A

Maxi got delayed for a while.

Speaker A

I think it's eventually coming out.

Speaker A

Didn't look good.

Speaker A

Didn't play good.

Speaker A

Apparently.

Speaker A

I was not interested in it.

Speaker A

Like I like the original Marathon games in the 90s that were.

Speaker A

They were exclusive at the time for the Mac, but then they came over to PC.

Speaker A

But those were fun.

Speaker A

Those were more of a Doom clone than anything else.

Speaker A

Because back in the 90s you just wanted to be a Doom clone, but they changed it to be an extraction shooter.

Speaker A

Very accessible.

Speaker A

It just didn't work out.

Speaker A

It just wasn't very fun.

Speaker A

Art style looked atrocious to me.

Speaker A

I did not like the art style one bit.

Speaker A

But they chugged along.

Speaker A

Bungie has not been doing well for a bit.

Speaker A

They have not been producing good quality games for a bit.

Speaker A

I know that Destiny 2 Renegade recently came out and looks like no one's playing that.

Speaker A

I think Bungie's in a lot of trouble.

Speaker A

I think it's why they actually wanted to be sold off to Sony because they knew the writing on the wall was bad for their game, especially Destiny 2.

Speaker A

They just have not been doing as well as when they were working on the Halo series Xbox.

Speaker A

That was when they were at their best.

Speaker A

Then transitioned to Destiny, Destiny 2 and the games were okay and they had to have a lot of fixing to be good.

Speaker A

That was the problem with their games.

Speaker A

So we have issues right now and people are leaving.

Speaker A

Can't say I blame them, but if they were the cause of the problems, that's your fault.

Speaker A

Anyways, we'll see if Marathon actually transitioned to be a successful game.

Speaker A

I don't think it's gonna be a successful game at all.

Speaker A

I think it's gonna be a very middle of the road, okay game that should have never been released.

Speaker A

But I think Sony put too much money into this game that they now have to release it.

Speaker A

It's like Concord 1 1/2 and then High Guard's gonna be Concord 2.0.

Speaker A

Nobody wants these games.

Speaker A

Stop making games nobody wants to play.

Speaker A

This is marketing 101.

Speaker A

If you don't understand marketing 101, I don't really understand you.

Speaker A

So please, for the love of God, stop making terrible games.

Speaker A

All right, moving on to Dying Light 1.5 for the beast, the Dying, the Beast and the DLC that became its own game.

Speaker A

The update introduces a new difficulty called the Nightmare Experience, new survival mechanics and new Alpha volatile Creature has been added.

Speaker A

Update 1.5 follows update 1.4, which has described by Teclon as the game's biggest Update yet.

Speaker A

Update 1.4 included features such as New Game plus and ray tracing support for PC and over 400 improvements in graphics and bug fixes.

Speaker A

This update is part of the most recent roadmap release by Techland.

Speaker A

I think this game is really good.

Speaker A

It was well optimized when it first released.

Speaker A

It didn't even have dlss, fsr, X, E s. With the intel one, whatever it's called, it didn't have any of that and it was well optimized.

Speaker A

It ran well.

Speaker A

So you gotta give credit for this developer.

Speaker A

I always say support developers that can actually make good games and actually optimize their games because that's another issue that we're having with developers.

Speaker A

Let's optimize your games.

Speaker A

I'm like, are you insane?

Speaker A

So I'd say since the Steam Winter Sale is going on right now, if it's on sale, I recommend getting it.

Speaker A

It's a good game if you like the parkour first person zombie type games.

Speaker A

It's a good game.

Speaker A

I recommend it.

Speaker A

It's a fun game if you're looking for something.

Speaker A

But as I said before, Steam Winter Sale is going on.

Speaker A

So have fun and find the games that are on sale that you wanted to play.

Speaker A

Even better.

Speaker A

Even Borderlands 4 is on sale, which I still don't recommend because it's not low enough.

Speaker A

Ah, Borderlands used to be a fun game.

Speaker A

Now look what happened to it.

Speaker A

All right, so this whole AI situation is interesting and a little weird at the same time.

Speaker A

I'm usually more in the middle of the road approach.

Speaker A

I usually call AI now just Machine Learning 2.0 because machine learning has been around for quite a while.

Speaker A

That's what original Alexa and Google Assistant was.

Speaker A

These machine learning models that learned and had to be trained and stuff.

Speaker A

He's a little bit more that they learn from themselves to a certain extent, but they still can't create anything original.

Speaker A

Everything is made from something else and a lot of times they're wrong.

Speaker A

That's the biggest issue is that they make up facts like humans.

Speaker A

Trust me, if you don't think we make up facts, we make up facts all the time.

Speaker A

So in gaming, developers are starting to use AI to help with development.

Speaker A

And I'm not against that.

Speaker A

As long as it's not for doing art, specifically art.

Speaker A

Now if it's to repurpose art to make it better, I'm fine with that.

Speaker A

But is to make original art?

Speaker A

No, it doesn't really do a good job with originality.

Speaker A

It does a really good job of repurposing.

Speaker A

So if an artist decided to make a drawing and say, hey, can you make this into a very creative, this type of art style?

Speaker A

And you put it into there and it spits it out, that's a good use of it because then it can help you.

Speaker A

Maybe you can tweak it a little bit after that.

Speaker A

There are good ways of using AI.

Speaker A

Maybe you wrote like the whole game story and everything, you're like, look it, can you help me fix problems that I can't see?

Speaker A

And it helps you with that.

Speaker A

Maybe you disagree with it at sometimes.

Speaker A

Maybe you use it.

Speaker A

That's another good way.

Speaker A

Maybe before you do human Q and A test, you do AI Q&A test where you make it run simulations through your map design to see where the hotspots are, where problems could arise.

Speaker A

And then you go with the human side of it and then ask them their opinion because you could use both of them and get a better understanding of it.

Speaker A

Data is good, but it only gets you so far because gaming is very subjective.

Speaker A

You either like the game or you don't.

Speaker A

And that's very, very subjective.

Speaker A

So you always have to have the human touch to it.

Speaker A

You can't devoid of it.

Speaker A

Using AI for NPC interactions could be good too, if it works well.

Speaker A

It's all about if you can make it work within your system.

Speaker A

If you can't, don't use it, don't force it.

Speaker A

But we shouldn't be hysterical about using a tool that could help keep costs down, make better games.

Speaker A

As long as the right people are in charge, this is fine.

Speaker A

The problem is that we've got artists going, no, never.

Speaker A

And I'm like, okay, that's a little too far.

Speaker A

And then we got people like, yeah, use AI for everything.

Speaker A

And that's a little too far.

Speaker A

We need a very middle of the road approach to this.

Speaker A

Be skeptical of AI but understand it's a good tool to use in the right hands.

Speaker A

It could be really good in the wrong hands, it's terrible.

Speaker A

It's.

Speaker A

That's why there's AI slop.

Speaker A

Like I said, it's a tool and the person using the tool is the one responsible for making it good or bad.

Speaker A

I'm not against it.

Speaker A

I just want to make sure the developer is still in control of the game and not letting the AI do what it wants.

Speaker A

That's terrible.

Speaker A

But saying no to AI whatsoever is weird at the same time because it's a tool and you use tools to your advantage and for efficiency.

Speaker A

So if it makes you really efficient and makes you work really well, use it.

Speaker A

If you can't figure it out, that's fine.

Speaker A

It's really up to the human.

Speaker A

To be honest with you now.

Speaker A

You're going to have a harder time finding jobs now because if you can't use AI, people are like, okay, I can't really use you because I can't just rely on you to do everything.

Speaker A

There needs to be a balance.

Speaker A

And I think the AI hysteria is a little overblown and people are comparing it to the Steam machines where people were actually breaking them.

Speaker A

That was basically the precursor to automobiles or cars because it was a newfangled thing and people like their horses.

Speaker A

For whatever reason, before cars, horses were the main transportation for a lot of people.

Speaker A

Now are the main transportation for a lot of people.

Speaker A

So should we hold developers accountable?

Speaker A

Of course.

Speaker A

Make sure that they're making their game, making it good, and not just overly relying on AI.

Speaker A

But we shouldn't also be like, no, never use AI.

Speaker A

That's just as terrible.

Speaker A

So I feel for the people.

Speaker A

At least they're owning up to and saying, hey, look, we do use generative AI to help us during development.

Speaker A

I'm fine with them saying that.

Speaker A

At least we know we shouldn't get upset about them coming out and saying, yes, we do use it.

Speaker A

We should be a little bit more worried when they don't say they're using it and it looks like they're using it in their art.

Speaker A

That's a bigger issue.

Speaker A

So should we be upset that the Boulders Gate 3 and the Divinity Series are using gener AI?

Speaker A

No.

Speaker A

No.

Speaker A

And the weirdos from Blue sky need to calm.

Speaker A

They need to calm down.

Speaker A

Especially the trans woman, AKA man pretending to be a woman, has said that he has was sexually assaulted, which I highly doubt actually ever happened there.

Speaker A

But I digress.

Speaker A

It's been overblown.

Speaker A

There's accusations that I think aren't even true.

Speaker A

And and it needs to go back to the situation of AI is here to stay if no matter if you like it or not.

Speaker A

It was like the Internet where people were like, oh, this is a fad.

Speaker A

It certainly was not a fad.

Speaker A

AI is another thing here to say now.

Speaker A

I call IT Machine Learning 2.0 because it's not really truly AI.

Speaker A

You are prompting it to make things.

Speaker A

It is not truly AI until we give it few prompts and it kind of runs with creativity, but it can't.

Speaker A

So It's Machine Learning 2.0 to me.

Speaker A

All right, so Hogwarts Legacy has surpassed 40 million units worldwide as announced by publisher Warner Brothers games developer Avalanche Software.

Speaker A

The game is an open world action RPG based on the Harry Potter franchise and it had a lot of controversy when it first came out.

Speaker A

Guess what?

Speaker A

It was a good game and everybody liked to play it.

Speaker A

That controversy didn't really do much to it and congratulations, it is a fun game.

Speaker A

I hope to can fix some of the issues in one.

Speaker A

Comet was a little boring after a while, but it still wasn't engaging enough.

Speaker A

It still was fun enough.

Speaker A

So I don't mind most of what they did, just fix the combat.

Speaker A

That's all I really care about.

Speaker A

But I'm glad that it did so well.

Speaker A

Hopefully this will not go the way of Shadows of Mordor from the Lord of the Rings franchise.

Speaker A

Unfortunately, Marth is no longer with us because they were dumb and decided to not make the third game of a game that was already really popular.

Speaker A

I don't know why could have made a successful game.

Speaker A

We were all waiting for Shadows of War sequel, the third game and that never happened even close to happening.

Speaker A

They were like let's make a Wonder Woman game and that will never see the light of day.

Speaker A

But congratulations to them.

Speaker A

Well deserved.

Speaker A

It was a fun game.

Speaker A

People enjoyed it.

Speaker A

So well deserved for them.

Speaker A

All right, so Bethesda Game Studios released Starfield over two years ago.

Speaker A

It's been a while with limited updates since its launch.

Speaker A

Apart from the Shattered Space DLC.

Speaker A

Apparently there is a Starfield 2.0 and apparently it overhauls the whole game because the whole game needed an overhaul badly.

Speaker A

It was a game.

Speaker A

It was not a good game.

Speaker A

It was not a terrible game.

Speaker A

It was a game meaning it was very mediocre and needed a lot of changes, specifically with planets and it just being this same thing over and over again.

Speaker A

I don't mind if planets look the same or have similarities between each other, but when you have a thousand planets and they're all the same thing you do.

Speaker A

Hey, I found this really cool thing.

Speaker A

It didn't do anything.

Speaker A

It was all right.

Speaker A

It was an all right game.

Speaker A

The problem is that it released in a time where we had no man's sky.

Speaker A

We had Star Citizen, we had Elite Dangerous.

Speaker A

All these games had way more things than Starfield had.

Speaker A

And then we had the release of Star Wars Outlaws, which did not do well, but at least had more than what Starfield had.

Speaker A

The problem with Starfield is that it was still almost Skyrim in space and there were way too many loading screens.

Speaker A

You couldn't fly into the planet.

Speaker A

You had to fly into a cutscene or a loading screen.

Speaker A

You couldn't warp to another planet.

Speaker A

You had to warp into a loading screen.

Speaker A

You see where I'm going with this?

Speaker A

There's a lot of loading screens that didn't need to happen.

Speaker A

And when people play space sim games nowadays, we would like the loading screen to be the jumping to light speed or whatever it is that you call it in your game.

Speaker A

And not a loading screen.

Speaker A

We like to go into the planet.

Speaker A

Maybe going into the planet would be the loading screen, but we like it to be that way.

Speaker A

We don't want it to go into the planet loading screen.

Speaker A

Go into the cave loading screen.

Speaker A

And that's the problem with Starfield is that it was a bland, mediocre game that had way too many loading screens and not enough things to actually really care about.

Speaker A

And that's where it was lost.

Speaker A

Even their DLC did not do any better.

Speaker A

I don't know what they've been doing with it.

Speaker A

I don't even know if I still have it installed in my system.

Speaker A

Probably should check that.

Speaker A

That's how bad it was.

Speaker A

I'm like, do I really need this one?

Speaker A

Probably not, cuz not good.

Speaker A

I didn't even finish it.

Speaker A

I was like no, not going to finish this one.

Speaker A

I don't care.

Speaker A

All right, moving on to a really stupid survey.

Speaker A

So apparently from the game industry publication, they're still stuck on Gamergate.

Speaker A

That happened like a decade ago.

Speaker A

Ish.

Speaker A

Actually more than a decade ago.

Speaker A

I think it was like 2010 anyways, long agone.

Speaker A

Really should move on from it.

Speaker A

But apparently the game devs and the game journalists cannot move on from this one thing.

Speaker A

It's like World War II for liberals.

Speaker A

Y' all can't move on from it.

Speaker A

Move on.

Speaker A

Anyways, so they did a survey in 2025 for.

Speaker A

Because women need to be in everything because it is unfair for men to be majority of cushy jobs because women do not want to clean the sewage, does not want to get oil, do not want to do any of the dirty jobs.

Speaker A

For the most part, women will not do those cushy jobs.

Speaker A

From marketing to PR to gaming and development to HR to nursing.

Speaker A

And nursing is a little bit of a dirty job to teaching women are fine with, even though they overwhelmingly are represented in those jobs.

Speaker A

I was mostly speaking of teaching nursing in public relations.

Speaker A

There's probably other ones as well.

Speaker A

HR is another big one.

Speaker A

The article interviews several influential women in the gaming industry discussing their experiences and perspectives on changes since the Gamergate era.

Speaker A

Like I said, they can't move on from the Gamergate era.

Speaker A

It was the one biggest thing to them and all of us were like, yeah, it's over.

Speaker A

So Frankie Ward, she's apparently been on the PC Gamer show, which to me she's always the worst one.

Speaker A

Never laugh at her jokes.

Speaker A

I'm like, okay, I skip all the speaking parts.

Speaker A

I'm.

Speaker A

I'll wait for it to be recorded for a while, then I skip all of it just to go and watch the trailers cuz I don't care about any of them.

Speaker A

She notes that a shift towards more female visibility in esports, but highlights ongoing challenges such as the fear of backlash for speaking out.

Speaker A

Yeah, because maybe we don't want you to speak out about ridiculous things that don't actually ever happen.

Speaker A

I've seen a lot of these quotes.

Speaker A

These quotes are pretty terrible.

Speaker A

I'm like, no wonder people are telling you to shut up.

Speaker A

Brenda Romero, from the husband of the famed Romeros that worked on ID software in the beginning, mentioned implementing family friendly policies in her studio, including paid maternity leave and menstrual wellness leave, because that spells equality by giving women specific special treatment.

Speaker A

I don't really understand about the quality thing when you don't actually do the equality thing.

Speaker A

Oh, we're all equal.

Speaker A

No, we're not.

Speaker A

Because men are actually stronger than women.

Speaker A

Men think way differently than women.

Speaker A

Why do you think we never really understand each other?

Speaker A

Because we're different.

Speaker A

But equality.

Speaker A

But we're different.

Speaker A

But equality.

Speaker A

All right, so if we're going to do the equal thing, then you shouldn't have maternity leave.

Speaker A

You shouldn't have menstrual leave, you shouldn't have all this stuff.

Speaker A

No, no, no, no.

Speaker A

We're different actually.

Speaker A

See, it always breaks down because it never actually makes any sense because it is actually true.

Speaker A

I get it.

Speaker A

Feminism has basically told women to be men and that has not worked out well at all.

Speaker A

The Issue here is that the push towards equality actually makes it where women get special treatment.

Speaker A

So it's not actually ever equality.

Speaker A

It can never have equality between two different sexes that have weaknesses and strengths different from each other.

Speaker A

If you can't understand that, then we have issues here.

Speaker A

I get that women have different things going on in their body and that's completely fine.

Speaker A

But you cannot say that equality means that you get special treatment.

Speaker A

That's not what equality means.

Speaker A

So when are we going to finally be honest with each other and say, look, maybe it's better that men actually do more of the work because we don't have all that extra stuff.

Speaker A

Maybe we should just be honest with each other.

Speaker A

But no, let's do these ridiculous things to talk about diversity for the sake of diversity that actually really hinder white men.

Speaker A

And all it does is hurt white men, because that's all you care about is hurting the white man, because the white man's supposedly never hurt you.

Speaker A

But victim mentality is always a good thing to have, because white men are bad.

Speaker A

Because I need a scapegoat.

Speaker A

I need something to blame for my unhappiness.

Speaker A

I need something to be what is wrong with my life, and that is the white man.

Speaker A

Also.

Speaker A

Moving on.

Speaker A

Allison Lacy observes that while there are more discussions about diversity, the gender split in engineering and senior roles remains largely unchanged.

Speaker A

Maybe that's because that we both have different things we like to do.

Speaker A

Men like to work with their hands, women don't.

Speaker A

The thing that having equality within all the job roles doesn't make any sense because we have different things we like.

Speaker A

Plus women.

Speaker A

You like the cushy jobs.

Speaker A

The engineering roles are not cushy.

Speaker A

The dirty jobs are not cushy.

Speaker A

They make a lot of money and you get a lot of money, but you also have to work a lot of hours, long hours.

Speaker A

So I don't really understand this.

Speaker A

It's like lip service that doesn't do anything.

Speaker A

This is not helpful for anybody.

Speaker A

And I'm going to say this toxic positivity, this toxic diversity, everything that they say that's toxic masculinity, it's actually what they believe is more toxic than anything else, because it's not true.

Speaker A

We don't need equality or 50% in every industry, in everything, because it's never going to happen, ever.

Speaker A

It's never, ever, ever, ever going to happen.

Speaker A

The same things that women did before they had the right to work or whatever is the same industries they still work in and are overwhelmingly oversampled in.

Speaker A

Nursing, secretary, teaching, are all the things they've been doing, working since the beginning of the time when they could work.

Speaker A

This hasn't changed.

Speaker A

The problem is that they're upset that more women aren't working in it, but they aren't working in it either.

Speaker A

And I'm like, stop with the madness.

Speaker A

Stop with the fallacies.

Speaker A

Stop with the false information.

Speaker A

Kimberly Turner reports an increase in female attendees at industry events, emphasizing the need for greater female representation at all levels.

Speaker A

No, how about you earn it?

Speaker A

This isn't earning it.

Speaker A

This is like, we need more women in these areas.

Speaker A

No, we don't.

Speaker A

We don't need anything except for the right people to work at the right job.

Speaker A

That's equality.

Speaker A

That's not.

Speaker A

That is made up crap.

Speaker A

That is bs.

Speaker A

That doesn't work, that doesn't move the industry and that makes the industry worse.

Speaker A

We've seen female led stuff make games that nobody wants to buy because you all can't figure out that gaming is male dominated.

Speaker A

The space is male dominated.

Speaker A

It always has been male dominated.

Speaker A

I'm fine if you want to play game and you're a girl, I don't care, but please stop with this.

Speaker A

We need special treatment.

Speaker A

We need you to understand that we need to be placed on a pedestal.

Speaker A

No, you don't.

Speaker A

If you don't like it, don't join the industry.

Speaker A

If you want to change it to be better for women, you're going to make it worse.

Speaker A

Either integrate it, understand that it's male dominated for a reason, or go back to your apartment and cry in your pillow or whatever you do.

Speaker A

Eat Matcha.

Speaker A

I don't know, but this is getting ridiculous.

Speaker A

Like, when is enough?

Speaker A

Because it's never enough, ever.

Speaker A

It needs to be a hundred percent or majority women now to be representative of women.

Speaker A

Even though even the stats say that besides mobile gaming, men mostly play PC and console games.

Speaker A

It's not even close.

Speaker A

For the love of God, can you understand that this diversity and representation push is just evil?

Speaker A

But no, they can't.

Speaker A

So they keep on pushing this.

Speaker A

And guess what happens?

Speaker A

Most guys go somewhere else because you make it so unbearable to be a part of.

Speaker A

There's not one push of.

Speaker A

Yeah, maybe we should listen to what the guys have to say.

Speaker A

Nope.

Speaker A

How dare there's not a 5050 split.

Speaker A

Oh my gosh, I'm being attacked.

Speaker A

Oh, the f. Fainting couch.

Speaker A

Where is my fainting couch?

Speaker A

It's back in your apartment where you live alone.

Speaker A

All right, here's another one.

Speaker A

Acknowledges some programs informalized policies supporting women, but notes that sexism and pay Inequality still exist in.

Speaker A

Or maybe just that you're not that good.

Speaker A

Ever thought about that?

Speaker A

Ever thought about that?

Speaker A

Maybe guys are just better at you than you are.

Speaker A

Maybe.

Speaker A

Maybe you should look internally and be like, okay, how can I do better at promoting being better at my job?

Speaker A

Nope, it's the dude's fault.

Speaker A

He looked at me weird.

Speaker A

I know I have blue hair, but he looked at me weird.

Speaker A

Dude's fault, not mine.

Speaker A

This is the issue.

Speaker A

This is why guys don't want to work with women at all.

Speaker A

If we look at you wrong, if we say something wrong at the time, even though it was a joke, we could be called up into hr.

Speaker A

This is why men don't want to work with women.

Speaker A

You could be like, that's sexist.

Speaker A

Okay, but it's the truth.

Speaker A

We tiptoe around you because we just don't want to deal with it.

Speaker A

We let you win because we don't want to deal with it.

Speaker A

It's not because you're right, Which I always love.

Speaker A

The feminist lie of women are right 100% of the time.

Speaker A

I'm like, yeah, that's not even true.

Speaker A

And that's just a lie.

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

All right, last one, Lauren.

Speaker A

Kate Dale reflects on the mixed experience of women industry, noting improvements in some areas but ongoing challenges with harassment and representation.

Speaker A

This is why gaming industry, or games in general have gotten worse.

Speaker A

There's always harassment with women.

Speaker A

Always some type of harassment somewhere in something.

Speaker A

And I'm just really talking about this.

Speaker A

The specific women that speak out the most about it.

Speaker A

I'm not saying all women do this, but there are too many vocal minorities that just need to shut up or the women need to tell them to shut up.

Speaker A

Because this is all ridiculous.

Speaker A

This is all feigned victimhood.

Speaker A

Oh, look at me.

Speaker A

I'm so oppressed when you're not.

Speaker A

When you actually give yourself benefits privileges.

Speaker A

Nothing about equality.

Speaker A

Oh, it's getting better, but it's not there yet.

Speaker A

When will it be there yet?

Speaker A

When I say so.

Speaker A

When's that?

Speaker A

Do you have a timeline?

Speaker A

Do you have specific numbers you need to reach for it to be quote, unquote equal?

Speaker A

Or is it still this farce of 50 50?

Speaker A

Because that will never happen.

Speaker A

This is my problem.

Speaker A

This is the decline of an industry.

Speaker A

And if it doesn't get fixed, it will be worse.

Speaker A

Like, I'm done.

Speaker A

A lot of guys are done too, if you think that I'm the only guy really saying it.

Speaker A

I'm the only really guy that is saying it out.

Speaker A

I'm not really the only guy now, but one of the few guys that are really saying it out loud, we're tired of it.

Speaker A

Moving on.

Speaker A

A leading industry observer has predicted that EA's Battlefield 6 is extremely likely to outsell Activision's Call of Duty Black Ops 7 in the US Prior predictions indicate that Black Ops 7 would be the top selling game.

Speaker A

New data suggests that Black Ops 7 is experiencing sales struggles and that this person stated that Battlefield 6 will likely be the best seller.

Speaker A

Battlefield 6 outsells Black Ops 7.

Speaker A

It would be the second time since 2018 that Call of Duty game is outsold in the US.

Speaker A

Last instance of Call of Duty game being outsold was in 2023 by Hogwarts Legacy.

Speaker A

And before that, Red Dead Redemption 2 outsold Black Ops 4 in 2018.

Speaker A

So there's a recurring theme going on here.

Speaker A

People were tired.

Speaker A

Since Black Ops 6 came out, a lot of the skins just rubbed people the wrong way.

Speaker A

Which people were like, stop making these skins.

Speaker A

These are cringe.

Speaker A

And they kept on making them.

Speaker A

And then people were like, this doesn't look very good.

Speaker A

Black Ops 7 came out and before that Battlefield 6 had its open beta and a ton of people played it.

Speaker A

Still really good.

Speaker A

They have their issues that they really need to resolve for Battlefield 6.

Speaker A

But at initial playing everybody was enjoying it.

Speaker A

Now a lot less people are enjoying it now.

Speaker A

But that happens.

Speaker A

There's fallout, fall off rates and everything, but it still has outperformed Black Ops 7.

Speaker A

Even when Black Ops 7 had its beta and free beta, it outperformed it.

Speaker A

And then that's when Battlefield 6 was released and now we've seen it where it's not really doing very well.

Speaker A

They're already on sale for Steam and it's been a month out.

Speaker A

I played the single player.

Speaker A

It's atrocious.

Speaker A

It's not even good.

Speaker A

It's weird.

Speaker A

I don't understand why they did what they did.

Speaker A

Seems like they were running out of ideas or they really just had to rush the production of it.

Speaker A

I'm not really quite sure, but it seems like there was a rush in production because Modern Warfare wasn't just there coming together or whatever.

Speaker A

But there seems to be something going on where it's just probably should have never been released.

Speaker A

I still say that it should do it.

Speaker A

Not a every year cycle game.

Speaker A

But they're not gonna listen to me anyways.

Speaker A

This is what happens when you don't listen to gamers.

Speaker A

We're like, we don't want this anymore.

Speaker A

We're tired of this.

Speaker A

And I keep on making it.

Speaker A

And new Game comes out and we're like, this does not look good.

Speaker A

We're done.

Speaker A

And guess what?

Speaker A

It's not sold well.

Speaker A

So looking back on 2025, it's been an interesting year.

Speaker A

We've got King Kong Deliverance 2, which did pretty well.

Speaker A

We had Expedition 33, did it really well.

Speaker A

We had Battlefield 6 come out, did amazingly well.

Speaker A

Since Battlefield 2042 was awful.

Speaker A

We had Arc Raiders launch to huge acclaim, huge player numbers.

Speaker A

We've had our high highs in gaming, We've had our low lows.

Speaker A

Unfortunately, the RAM issue, unfortunately, releasing of the 50 series was not good.

Speaker A

Like the hardware side, it's been a little rough, not gonna lie.

Speaker A

And most of it's partly to blame for people being greedy.

Speaker A

Data centers transitioning from HDD to nvmes and then AI centers gobbling up everything they can for that one as well.

Speaker A

So at this end of 2025, it saddens me that looks like we're going to have a rough few years for PC building.

Speaker A

I don't think a lot of people are going to be building them.

Speaker A

I don't think a lot of people are going to be buying PCs.

Speaker A

Why?

Speaker A

Because it's too expensive.

Speaker A

I think the Steam machine is going to be in a very bad situation now because of this issue.

Speaker A

There's not a lot to look forward to right now just because of the state of PC hardware right now.

Speaker A

It's only like a few specific things, but it really matters to a lot of different things in the PC gaming industry.

Speaker A

If RAM just isn't there for supply, then vram, dram and everything else is affected.

Speaker A

NVMEs are affected.

Speaker A

They go up in price.

Speaker A

RAM is hugely up in price.

Speaker A

GPUs rarely have ever hit the MSRP that was supposed to be the msrp.

Speaker A

Then we had games developers trying, or I should say publishers, trying to make $80 games work.

Speaker A

Didn't really work out very well for them.

Speaker A

People got mad at Microsoft for following Nintendo's lead and they backtrack pretty quickly.

Speaker A

Nintendo's been hurting quite a bit for that 80 price tag that even I was like, yeah, I'm good.

Speaker A

I got the Switch.

Speaker A

I'm good with that.

Speaker A

So in a year, just to finish off, like, what do we do?

Speaker A

We just kind of hold on to the games that we like, the people that we made friends with, to the things that bring us joy.

Speaker A

Because really we could just lament on all the bad stuff going on, lament on just developers not making good games, lament on companies screwing us over.

Speaker A

But let's look at what's good.

Speaker A

Battlefield 6 is fun.

Speaker A

Arc Raiders is fun.

Speaker A

You got a bunch of games that came out.

Speaker A

You got the Steam winter sale going on right now.

Speaker A

You got good stuff going on.

Speaker A

And so I think we should end on that.

Speaker A

Just even though I went on my rant for the really ridiculous survey, I think we should end on that.

Speaker A

Having fun no matter who you are and just having fun with the games that you like to play, not caring about the hardware that you need to update, not caring about any of that.

Speaker A

Having fun with that.

Speaker A

Having fun with your friends, having fun with your family.

Speaker A

Maybe try to get your family to play a little bit.

Speaker A

Because you know what?

Speaker A

It's the Christmas season.

Speaker A

It's all about sharing, giving and spending time with each other.

Speaker A

Virtually or physically.

Speaker A

I'd say more physically than virtually.

Speaker A

We all need to focus in on that and let I everything else fall away because it's always temporary is to a certain extent.

Speaker A

So that's my encouragement to you.

Speaker A

Just have fun this holiday season.

Speaker A

Have fun with family if you can.

Speaker A

Have fun with your friends if you can.

Speaker A

Either that or find some way to give.

Speaker A
